Message in a bottle.
Sleepin_Dragon15 September 2021
When out walking, the chaps spot a message floating down the river in a bottle. Norman is visited by an unknown visitor.

I did find it funny, a nice story, and of course some funny antics. It was daft, of course it was, but the antics were somehow a little more restrained.

Funny scenes between Marina and Miss Davenport, they make a good duo, we've had all the Howard jokes imaginable, she brings out a different side to the character.

I liked the caper of the guys getting the message, and I laughed at Smiler in armour.

Overall, I enjoyed it very much, June Whitfield has made a good addition, she seems a direct replacement for Dora Bryan.

Good start to the new series, 7/10.

Follow That Bottle

Roy Clarke takes on the telemarketers.

The lads find a message in a bottle floating in the river. When they break it, they have a number to ring.

Truly of the Yard springs into action. It could be someone in distress.

Meanwhile Clegg is worried why a distant cousin has come round searching for him. Is Cousin Aubrey the bearer of bad news?

No sweepstakes in guessing that a special offer is being cooked up.

June Whitfield joins the cast as Nelly. With Barry wearing a large hat and Smiler walking around with a suit of armour. She is probably wondering what she did to win this prize.

Decent opening episode

A decent episode with some actual intrigue. For the most part of the episode, we the viewers are left wondering about the origins of the message in the bottle and who is the man looking for Norman Clegg?

This episode marks a welcome return for June Whitfield, this time playing a new character Nellie. It appears that Nellie is a effectively direct replacement for Roz and already she seems to be a more rounded character, often talking about her husband Travis who we never see. Unfortunately there's no mention of Roz, so we don't know whether she's moved on or passed away. I can't say Roz will be missed though as she contributed very little to the show unfortunately.

Is also nice to see some great onscreen chemistry between Alvin and Billy. Both characters are beginning to work very well with each other.
