Quotes

  • Pamela Barnes Ewing : [entering room]  Oh, Sue Ellen...

    [hugs her]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : I'm so sorry.

Sue Ellen Ewing : Thank you, Pam. It's nobody's fault but my own. You are looking at the biggest masochist in Dallas. I wasn't content to destroy my life by marrying him once. Oh, no! No, I had to marry him twice!

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, what happened?

Sue Ellen Ewing : I found him... concluding a big oil deal... with Miss Holly Harwood... in her bed.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : I'm sorry.

Sue Ellen Ewing : It's all my fault. J.R. told me that he had changed. Oh, I believed that. Then he told me that our marriage would be different the second time around. And I believed that too. And he said he would be faithful. And I even believed *that!*

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [shakes her head, comes forward]  Sue Ellen, you're being too hard on yourself. And you were so in love with J.R. And when you love somebody that much,

    [shakes her head]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : you overlook certain things. We all do.

    [shakes her head again]

Sue Ellen Ewing : Pam... do you remember when, uh... you and I had a... talk... about marrying Ewings... and I told you it was trouble... but you disagreed? Now we're in the same boat.

    [shakes her head]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, Bobby's never been unfaithful to me. Lord knows why.

  • Sue Ellen Ewing : You know, Pam, I... I really don't know what I'm gonna do, I... I know I can't go through another divorce. I just can't face that.

[takes out her bottle of Vodka]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Sue Ellen, you don't need that.

Sue Ellen Ewing : Oh, yes, I do. You just don't understand, Pam.

  • J.R. Ewing : Well, how are you, Pam? I haven't seen you in some time.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : I'm not in a mood to exchange pleasantries with you, J.R. And I'm sure you don't really care how I am.

J.R. Ewing : Well, of course I care. You're still part of the family.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : Oh, save that nonsense for somebody that doesn't know you. You don't care about anyone, including your family. I saw Sue Ellen this morning.

J.R. Ewing : Well, I've never felt the need to explain anything to you before, but... I will. I know you're close to her.

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [irritated]  I don't want to hear your story! I know what happened. It has happened before. Sue Ellen wasn't enough for you, so you fell in bed with the first available woman!

J.R. Ewing : Now climb down off your soapbox, honey. What were you doing in the South of France with Mark Graison, holding hands?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [yells]  Shut up, J.R., and stay out of my life!

J.R. Ewing : Who gave you the right to poke your nose in *my* life?

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [yells]  Just leave me alone!

J.R. Ewing : No, you started this, my sanctimonious little sister-in-law. Where the hell were you when your husband needed you the most, huh? Now, you couldn't take the battle for Ewing Oil, could you? No, you didn't approve. So you left him high and dry, and ran off to the South of France with your favorite stud for a long, luxurious roll in the hay... to calm your little hurts.

    [she glares at him]

J.R. Ewing : Now, tell me, was Mark Graison the only one...

    [comes nearer]

J.R. Ewing : or did you try a few Frenchmen just because you were there?

[he gets slapped through the face, and she storms out]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : [overheard from reception as J.R. stands rubbing his face]  Phyllis, tell Bobby I was here.

    Phyllis Wapner : Yes, Pam.

J.R. Ewing : [to himself, still holding his face]  Damn, I hate that woman.

  • Pamela Barnes Ewing : Bobby, I'm never coming back.

    [tearfully]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : This is so hard for me to say to you... because I do love you. But our marriage doesn't work anymore.

    [sobbing]

Pamela Barnes Ewing : It just doesn't work. And I want a divorce.
