On a weirdness scale from 1 to 10, this film gets a 37!
A young lady who dreams of being an artist is approached by a talking frog with a very strange proposition. He tells her to eat him to unlock her true creativity!
This is probably the strangest short film I have ever seen. And, considering I have probably seen a couple thousand, that's saying a lot. Trying to describe the plot in a coherent fashion just isn't possible--just like describing a work by Rembrandt or Calder. It is what it is...an amazing work of art as opposed to a work with a traditional narrative. In many ways, it's much more like stepping into a world of LSD or to another planet than anything else and it's something you just have to see to believe. It makes the mind of Lewis Carroll seem normal in comparison!
Most of the work on this film was done by Jason Wen and his brother, Howard. And, although there were of course actors, most of the film is the bizarre CGI. It's almost like acting and the story are pretty much afterthoughts! Amazing, one of a kind and despite some gross images, it's also one of the most beautiful and creative films I have seen.
Oh, and check out the extremely well designed web page for the film. It's at: www.cheriemovie.com/
