Though New Moon is already breaking records and is expected to be a mammoth success for its studio Summit Entertainment, not everybody is so enthralled with the love and devotion of hunky vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and his lovestruck girlfriend Bella (Kristen Stewart).
“I thought I was walking into Underworld 4. All my friends told me that the Cooper 7 was showing Underworld 4 at midnight and that tickets were going fast,” said Shane Fennigan, a junior at Crestfallen High School. “My friends were all ‘Dude, this movie has vampires and Lycans and it’s showing at the Cooper, you should go, nobody knows about it.’ I told them ‘[expletive] yeah!’ and I raced down there.”
Despite the long line of teenage girls at the theater, Fennigan was undaunted. “I thought that there was some discount for suburban goth girls or something. Or that vampires fighting Lycans were starting to catch on,” he said sadly. »

So not only is another "Underworld" installment in the works, but the film's already found a writer! What? I wasn't even aware they were making a fourth film. Of course, "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" did far better than anyone expected, particularly with the absence of Kate Beckinsale. According to reports, the next entry will be written by the "The Shield" scribe John Hlavin. While he wouldn't reveal any details about the upcoming movie, he did make it quite clear that it wouldn't be a prequel. "It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don't want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements." Original "Underworld" director, Len Wiseman, is on board as producer yet the film has yet to find a director. We'll keep you posted.

Screen Gems/Lakeshore have found a cheap writer to journey once again to a world of vampires and werewolves. John Hlavin has signed to pen Underworld 4.
Many media outlets are describing Hlavin as writer for FX’s “The Shield,” but he wrote two of the 89 episodes and served as story editor on four others. The rest of his resume is pretty bare though.
Kate Beckinsale has not agreed to return to the series, which Hlavin confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter “is not a prequel.” Neither has Rhona Mitra, who replaced Beckinsale as the bad ass brunette for the third movie (a prequel) titled Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
In an interview in August, Beckinsale said she would not be adverse to it, but they would have to come up with an amazing script. Then again, she thought the whole thing was a rumor at the time and she’s »

Underworld 4 still doesn’t have a star attached (no Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Underworld: Evolution) or Rhona Mitra (prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) but it does have a writer.
Screen Gems has tapped The Shield writer John Hlavin to write the script for the fourth entry in the Underworld series. Want to know what Underworld 4 will be about? Keep waiting.
“I can tell you it’s not a prequel,” Hlavin said. “It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don’t want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements.”
The 3D project is still without a director but is still on track for a January 2011 release.

Writer John Hlavin has been around the block. He's written several episodes of The Shield, the incredibly popular FX show, and episodes of Trust Me, the recently canceled TNT drama. But none of that will compare with the watchful eyes that will be upon his next project, as he signs on to pen the fourth installment in the Underworld franchise for Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment. The fourth film -- which still does not have a director attached -- is "not a prequel," says Hlavin, who according to Heat Vision is keeping the plot under wraps. "It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences," he added. "Meaning that we don't want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements." Original Underworld star Kate Beckinsale did not return for the third film, which starred Rhona Mitra and Michael Sheen, and »

THR reports that former Shield writer John Hlavin will write the screenplay for Underworld 4. The fourth installment in the franchise is supposedly going to be shot in 3-D and will set up another trilogy of Underworld movies. Hlavin wouldn't say too much about the plot, but he did note that "it's not a prequel."
It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don't want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements.
Len Wiseman, director of the first two Underworlds will produce, while neither Kate Beckinsale, who starred in Underworld and Underworld: Evolution, nor Rhona Mitra, who starred in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, are signed on to return. However, Beckinsale has said that she could be interested in returning if she liked the script.

Screenwriter John Hlavin will write the fourth installment of Screen Gems' and Lakeshore Entertainment's "Underworld." Len Wiseman, director of the first and second installment, will produce with Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Richard Wright of Lakeshore. Hlavin told The Hollywood Reporter "I can tell you it's not a prequel. It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don't want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements." Special effects wizard Patrick Tatopoulos directed "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," the third film in the series. That was a prequel and starred Rhona Mitra. Mitra nor Beckinsale have shown any interest in starring as yet. We'll see. And will Tatopoulos be at the wheel again? »

We’re getting another Underworld movie and there’s no way around it. I dropped out after the first movie, but it did teach me a valuable lesson: Kate Beckinsale in black leather spandex wielding two guns does not a good movie make. Also (and I fail to understand this in New Moon as well), why are werewolves and vampires fighting? I know that there’s some back story explaining it but what makes these two groups inherently in conflict as opposed to any other monster?
Maybe John Hlavin, a writer on The Shield, which is one of my all-time favorite shows, can explain it to me, or at least bring me back to the series. Thankfully, Hlavin says he aims to do just that (while not alienating the precious fans who must be appeased lest the world suffer their wrath). Hit the jump for details and wonder if you »

Roland Emmerich isn't the only director thinking about the end of the world this year. According to THR, Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard directer Len Wiseman (aka Mr. Kate Beckensale) is also looking to put an end to humanity. His pitch, titled Nocturne, has been picked up by 20th Century Fox. It is based on an original idea about a group of people who survive the end of the world and the mystery surrounding how they got through it. There is no script yet, but the studio is currently shopping the idea around to writers. This makes for three projects in development for Wiseman, who is quickly becoming the next major director with everything to do, and no time to actually do it. After directing Live Free or Die Hard and producing this year's Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, he has had nothing actually get the go-ahead for production. He's »

Len Wiseman is currently looking for writers to hash-out an "untitled" post-apocalyptic pitch called Nocturne(?). To confuse matters even further (most confusing report from the Hollywood Reporter ever?), the industry trade paper says that Len Wiseman directed Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, which he didn't. C'mon THR, you guys are just getting lazy now.
Word is, "the project is based on an original idea about a group of people who survive the end of the world and the mystery surrounding how they got to that position."
When will we see the film? Well don't forget, Wiseman is also attached to the underwater Pa project, Atlantis Rising, and the futuristic war movie, Shrapnel, so maybe not all that soon. There was a time when Wiseman was attached to the Escape from NY reboot, but word is that whole project has completely fallen apart.

Not to be outdone by Roland Emmerich and his disaster porn fetish, “Underworld” director Len Wiseman is going to try his hand at blowing up the world and leaving behind just a few stragglers to figure out why. Wiseman, who directed the first two “Underworld” movies along with “Live Free or Die Hard”, has sold an untitled pitch to Fox about the end of the world. Well okay, the pitch is said to be untitled, but in their article, THR actually calls the movie “Noturne” in the headline, which, er, doesn’t really mean it’s untitled. Or did THR screw up? I guess we’ll find out tomorrow. Then again, the article also says Wiseman directed “Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans”, when he only produced, so … Anyhoo, about the movie, which may or may not be called “Noturne”. It will be about a group of people who survive the end of the world, »

Two-thousand-and-nine may be the year of the ox in the Chinese Zodiac, but in Hollywood, it’s the year of the wolf, what with Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Wolverine, Twilight: New Moon and The Wolf Man all coming out within a span of 12 months. But this past week has had an especially high wolf content. (Speaking of wolf content, I once ordered a bottle of concentrated wolf urine from Amazon just to see what the deal was—I warn you never to try this indoors: it was the foulest, most devastingly, primordially evil stench I’ve ever inhaled in my life that required we evacuate half the office. Anyway, back to Wolf Week.) We hereby bring you a list of the week’s lupine links: • Vf Daily’s own Andi Teran interviewed three of the Quileute werewolves from Twilight: New Moon: Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon, and Chaske Spencer. »

“I wanted to see how the other half lived,” Sheen explains with a grin. “Or unlived.”
Sheen is no stranger to the supernatural, having played Lycan (werewolf) leader Lucian in all three films of the Underworld series, so finally shedding his fur in favour of fangs would have made a very nice change. »

This just in! Charlize Theron wouldn’t mind playing Catwoman in the sequel to the second highest grossing film of all time, The Dark Knight. Well that entire last sentence would qualify for a big, fat “Duh!” Can you tell me one person that wouldn’t say “Yes” to star in a billion dollar franchise if asked? Megan Fox was recently rumored to be playing the feminine milk-drinking feline villain a few weeks ago but Warner Bros. execs were quick to shoot that down. It’s not a direct quote but I think the press release said something like, “Um, Hell No!”
During an Stv interview that probably only consisted of some guy with a mini-voice recorder stalking her as she shopped for groceries, Theron said this:
“It’s news to me, but that’s kick-ass news. I like that… I think that what has happened to that franchise is amazing, »

Michael Sheen, who portrays Volturi Clan's leader Aro on upcoming movie "The Twilight Saga's New Moon", has been confirmed to join the cast ensemble of Joseph Kosinski-directed film "Tron Legacy". Speaking in an interview with ComingSoon.net, Sheen says he will portray a nightclub host in the Tron world.
"That was amazing, because there's a lot of green screen in that," Sheen told ComingSoon.net about the film, which is planned to be released in U.S. theaters on December 17, 2010. "But my stuff was mainly in this amazing set that they built because I'm a nightclub host, so they built the nightclub and there were hundreds of extras and it was one of those great scenes where there's just loads going on."
Michael Sheen got public attention after starring as Tony Blair on 2006 flick "The Queen". Since then, he has starred on lots of movies, including "Blood Diamond", "Music Within »
