- After a successful amphibious insertion, a small group of Marines prepare for combat against the local rebels in the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines. They are hunting for Abubakar (Jojo De Leon) who fought in the Afghanistan wars against US. Abubakar is linked to a terrorist organization by the name of AKD, and the US forces are now linking AKD to the entire Philippine rebel army, that has been fighting the government for over 30 years. The marines are tasked to drive the rebels off the beach and towards the mountains, where another group of marines and the regular Philippine army will be waiting to ambush them. The marines intend to reach the mountains by flying low over the jungles. As the marines hit the beach, they are met with fierce resistance, but they are able to overpower the rebels and drive them further inland into the jungles. Gen. Frank Lewis (Rutger Hauer) & Philippine Gen. Romero Panlilio (Joe Mari Avellana) clarifies that certain factions of the rebels are now controlled by the AKD. AKD leaders are gathered on Mindanao and are planning a major strike against the west. Abubaker knows that his forces are being surrounded, and he decides to retreat further into the jungle, over the mountains, where he can make a stand from a position of strength.
While making a routine fly-by, a UH-1 Huey helicopter (call sign Eagle one), carrying some Philippine troops and Marines, is shot down by the rebels. Among the occupants is USMC Captain Amy Jennings (Theresa Randle) (who was piloting the Huey) and Major Aguinaldo (Ricardo Cepeda). Aguinaldo is injured in the leg and can't walk. Aguinaldo wants Jennings to leave as he knows that the rebels are coming their way. Jennings refuses to abandon him. Jennings and Aguinaldo escape the wreckage and try to flee from the pursuing rebels. Aguinaldo orders Jennings to leave and bring back reinforcements, but she comes back when she hears gunfire and knows that Aguinaldo is under attack from rebel forces.
A rescue team of 2 helicopters is dispatched to save Jennings and Aguinaldo. Rescue helicopters are both shot down by a rebel Surface to Air missiles. Lt. Daniels (Mark Dacascos) and his team (who are the Marines hunting for Abubakar coming in from the beach) (after they were ambushed by suicide bombers at Abubaker's first base, where he left a few of his men to stall the progress of the American forces) continue onward in the jungles searching for their target.
Jennings and Aguinaldo are captured by the rebels and taken to a village. The rebels keep Jennings and Aguinaldo there overnight. Jennings tries to escape at night, with help from Aguinaldo, but is caught & brought in front of Abubakar. Jennings knows that this is the man the US forces are hunting and decides not to escape till she kills the target. The following morning, Aguinaldo is executed by the rebel leader by beheading. Abubaker sends a clear signal to all villagers that helping the US forces will only be punished by death. They take Jennings to their headquarters.
Gen. Frank Lewis (Rutger Hauer) is in charge of the Marine Corps on the island and receives hell from higher ranking Marine Corps officials regarding the captured Jennings. Lewis is told that the potential torture and sexual assault of Jennings at the hands of the enemy is not going to go well with the American public. Hence his priority is to rescue Jennings. Lewis calls Daniels and instructs him to search for the survivors of Eagle One. Since Daniels and his team are anyways headed to Abubakar, now their added mission objective is to save the survivors.
Lt. Daniels & the rescue team approaches the village (they are met with a fierce resistance from the remaining rebel forces) and learns that the rebels have moved Jennings to their HQ. The US forces clear the village of all rebels. They begin following the rebels. The rebels try to force Jennings to tell the United States (through a video camera) that the Marines must leave the island; but she refuses. In response, the rebels torture her. Abubakar also wants Jennings to tell him (under the pain of electric shocks) if the US plans to attack his HQ. Jennings is resolute in her silence.
After battling several rebels, the rescue team link up with Philippine troops (who are also planning a major assault on the rebel HQ controlled by Abubakar's forces). The rescue team learns that the Philippines are preparing to attack within a few hours, so they have limited time to reach the HQ first and bring Jennings out (as rebels will try to use Jennings as a hostage). Lewis convinces Romero to delay the Philippine army attack by a few minutes to give Daniels a little extra time to rescue Jennings.
Daniels and his team battle the remaining rebels in the HQ. They reach the compound where Jennings has been held, just as the Philippines open artillery fire on the rebel HQ. They rescue Jennings, who informs them of a bio-chemical lab in the compound used to make anthrax and destroy the anthrax lab. They escape from the blast (the timer was set at 3 mins). The rebel leader, Abubakar, survives the blast, but Jennings shoots him dead. Lt. Daniels and a Filipino attached to him mourn the loss of their soldiers.
