The idea for the movie came to writer/director John N. Michaels while he was watching a commercial for a law firm that promised to "get you the money you deserve whether you deserved it or not."
Originally the script was about lawyers. It was then changed to con artists, simply because writer/director John N. Michaels could not see any difference between the two.
One of the characters in the film has the last name of "Micalone." This is writer/director John N. Michaels' birth name, which he changed in 1990.
