This episode really feels like it comes out of nowhere. It feels as if this should have aired later on in the show. All of a sudden we have a bunch of new villains who apparently know about the Planeteers & Captain Planet, even though none of this has been established in prior episodes.
Who are these people? What's their backstory? Why are They working together? There are no answers given here. I would have preferred a gradual introduction to these villains.
One nice thing about the episode is that the Planeteers are deprived of their powers and therefore have to engineer a plan using only their wits. However, it turns out they must all be extremely acrobatically skilled for some reason, the way they dodge those radiation blasts.
I give points because MAL the sassy computer is fun and devious - and there's a moment where it seems like the computer and Dr Blight might have a weird sexual relationship or something.
Some of the dialogue in this one is particularly terrible. Characters keep pointing out and saying things are happening that we can obviously already see happening ourselves. It really does feel like the viewer's intelligence is being insulted, eg "the fire is melting the ice!" Well DUH!
