Many Transformers fans think of this episode as the worst in the department of story-telling. It has various plot and animation oddities, and the characters are rather unlikable as well. Above that, the villains' plan is so over-complicated, that it hardly makes sense.
The last episode of season 2, the final one that takes place in the eighties. The following entries, the movie and season 3 all happen 20 years later in the storyline.
The school is named as Benjamin Franklin Pierce High School, no doubt named after the chief surgeon at the 4077 M*A*S*H (another television show).
Transformers character designer and long time fan Derrick Wyatt once commented in reference to this episode, that he remembered the subplot of the character named Swindle very well, having seen it in his childhood. However after re-watching it as an adult, he was severally disappointed in the other subplot (revolving around unpleasant high school kids) that he had luckily forgotten since then.
On top of the building, where the Protectobots' headquarters is located, there is advertising billboard for E-Cola.
