BBC America has announced the launch date for post-apocalyptic drama series Survivors. The much-delayed Survivors, which is an adaptation of the cult classic 1970s series (itself based on Terry Nation's novel), will have its Us premiere on Saturday, February 13th at 8 pm Et/Pt, before shifting to its regular timeslot at 9 pm Et/Pt the following week. The series tracks the adventures of a group of people who survive a global viral holocaust that wipes out 99 percent of the human race's population and who struggle to stay alive in the face of unspeakable odds following this global catastrophe. In the official scheduling announcement, BBC America refers to the "twelve-episode season" of Survivors, which is a sign that the digital cabler intend to air the first two UK seasons of Survivors back-to-back. Season One, which aired in the UK in 2008, was comprised of six episodes and the second season of »

Katrina Kaif is Asia's Sexiest Woman Again

12 December 2009 4:41 PM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

For the second year running, Katrina Kaif has grabbed the top spot as Asia's sexiest woman - as awarded by the UK's prestigious Eastern Eye magazine. Also in the top ten were British TV actress Laila Rouass of Primeval, who is of Moroccan and Indian descent - and Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat from the movie Insha'Allah. All the other top ten places were occupied by Bollywood actresses.

Kat was full of praise earlier this week for designer Farah Khan's sexy circus-themed lingerie show for Triumph. "It was a grand night. It was lot of fun," she said, "It's not that easy to pull off a show like this in India. You have to do it in a way that every one is happy and comfortable and that's exactly what Farah did." The show was attended by many other Bollywood celebrities including the Kumars, Anil Kapoor and Raveena Tandon.

The 30-year-old actor will soon reprise his role as Connor Temple on the ITV1 sci-fi show, which was recently given a surprise recommission for 13 more episodes. In an interview with IESB, Potts commented: "It's great coming back to play him. And then, also, I get to work with my fiancée Hannah Spearritt. 'Primeval' Star Andrew Lee Potts Gets Hatter with SyFy's 'Alice'

6 December 2009 1:36 PM, PST | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Little has been heard from Andrew Lee Potts since he appeared on the series Primeval.  Playing the character Connor Temple paved the way for another role, as the Mad Hatter in Alice, SyFy's modern retelling of Lewis Carroll's classic novel.

The miniseries just kicked off with newcomer Caterina Scorsone in the titular role.  Kathy Bates and Tim Curry have also signed on for the project.  Being amidst veteran actors didn't daunt Andrew Lee Potts one bit though, because he was obviously excited to get the part.

Syfy's Alice Review: A Visually Whimsical Reimagining

4 December 2009 8:19 AM, PST | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

If I describe SyFy's new four hour miniseries 'Alice' as a modern-day reimagining of Lewis Carroll's classic stories I am probably doing it a disservice. Yet I cannot think of a more appropriate way to describe it.

This new miniseries, written and directed by Nick Willing (Tin Man), takes almost all of the elements from 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking-Glass' but alters their context to create something new. Wonderland, we are told, has changed considerably since the events of those novels unfolded, evolving into a city of crumbling, twisting towers and buildings constructed out of cards and chess pieces.

Twenty-something karate instructor, Alice Hamilton (Caterina Scorsone) finds herself in this bizarre, twisted world when she gives chase to a man involved in the kidnap of her boyfriend, Jack Chase (Philip Winchester, Crusoe). Trying to find him and make her way back to her own world, she is »

Nick, I was wondering if you could perhaps tell us a little bit about the prep you had to do for this particular project going in and maybe some of the challenges associated with that for you.

New movie adaptation planned for barbarian warrior Kull

24 November 2009 3:43 AM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Paradox Entertainment says it is planning a new film based on the warrior hero Kull.

Paradox's CEO Fredrik Malmberg revealed plans for the reboot to French website Fantasy.fr.

Robert E Howard, who also created Conan, introduced Kull in a 1929 issue of the pulp magazine Weird Tales. The character later appeared in comics by Marvel and more recently Dark Horse.

Born in Atlantis around 20,000Bc, Kull is exiled over a mercy killing and later vecomes a mercenary and eventually king of Valusia on the neighbouring continent of Thuria.

A film adaptation, Kull the Conqueror, was released in 1997, directed by John Nicolella and starring Kevin Sorbo in the title role. Other cast members included Tia Carrere, Harvey Fierstein and Primeval star Douglas Henshall.

The Universal movie, which was a box office dud, was in fact an adaptation of Howard's Conan novel The Hour of the Dragon, with the lead character »

Douglas Henshall praises 'Primeval'

10 November 2009 8:06 AM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Douglas Henshall has predicted that Primeval will have a bright future following its recent revival. The 43-year-old actor, who left his role as palaeontology expert Nick Cutter in the last series, told the Chester Chronicle that he can understand why the dinosaur drama has proved so popular with fans. "I thought that the writing was good enough and the premise was good enough, [and] if people liked it, it could go pretty much as long as it liked," Henshall explained. "As long as people had faith in it who were making it, then I thought it would be fine. It taps into an eternal thing in young people, dinosaurs, monsters and myths (more) »

Douglas Henshall talks return of Primeval

7 November 2009 2:31 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Fans of ITV's cult sci-fi show Primeval had two shocks this year.

First, the head of the monster-fighting team Professor Nick Cutter, played by Douglas Henshall, was killed off in the third series, and then the popular show was cancelled.

But last month ITV bosses brokered a deal which will see both a fourth and fifth series on our screens in 2011, and Douglas Henshall fans will soon be able to catch the actor in new ITV drama Collision, starting on Monday and running for five consecutive nights.

While Douglas left Primeval to spend more time on stage and making films, he's not surprised that it's had a reprieve.
