Whether you believe the purpose of horror films to be social satire, criticism or terror matters little when the basic premise of the horror film is weaker than the moral it seeks to imbue. While message is capable of fighting the uphill battle against poor execution it rarely ends in victory. P2 loses this battle - miserably. The one good hit P2 lands against its poor premise is delivered by Wes Bentley.

Angela (Rachel Nichols) just wanted to go home for the holidays. Stranded in her office building, Angela searches frantically for someone to help her get out - only finding Thomas. Alexandre Aja Lines Up Post Piranha Flick

Alexandre Aja, the French filmmaker behind the stylish horror flicks High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes – one of the better films to come out of the Hollywood horror-remake frenzy, has signed on to helm The Contractor. The story is set in a world where the U.S. government can no longer afford to fight wars and authorizes private contractors to send a band of elite soldiers on missions around the world. Ian Jeffers, who penned the Kevin Bacon vigilante flick Death Sentence, is currently doing a rewrite on the script. Jeffers also recently scripted The Grey and did a rewrite on the Rogue Pictures video game adaptation Castlevania, which Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) is attached to direct. The trades say that Aja will direct the film once he’s finished production on Piranah 3-D, Dimension Films’ remake of the campy 1978 flick that has faced a few delays. Production »
