Purity No Longer, K.J. Enjoys Married Life
Say a little prayer for Kevin Jonas' chastity, now deceased at twenty-two years of age. Okay, enough pretend sadness. The elder of the three Jonas Brothers celebrated his honeymoon with his bride Danielle Deleasa poolside in Mexico, where K.J. was forced to abstain from yet another pleasure of the body -- suntanning -- as he mostly hid his milky white frame beneath a poolside umbrella. One look at the filmmaker names below, and it appears as if the Sundance alumni have come out in droves. We find a known variety of filmmakers such as Spike Jonze (Being John Malcovich), Ira Sachs (Married Life), Nicholas Jasenovec (Paper Hearts), James Franco and the Zellner bros. who have dabbled this year in the short form while working in between their feature film projects. - I'd be willing to bet that its the commonly available digital filmmaking and editing technologies that is the core reason for the record breaking amount of short films submitted (6,092) to Sundance this year. Personally, you'll only hear me complain that watching movies is a tough job come day 8 of a major film festival, but imagine being one the programmers having to plow threw hundreds of pieces of crap in order to find something worth watching over a second time. Web series and web video tid bits worth clicking today: David Henrie, 20 year-old star of Disney Channel's The Wizards of Waverly Place, made a guest starring appearance on Illeana Douglas' Easy to Assemble series set yesterday. During the shoot, which takes place on a flight Sweden, Henrie tweeted out a photo of him sitting next to SNL vet Tim Meadows. (Full disclosure: I too was on set for an appearance in the series.) [@David_Henrie/Twitter] Toy ideas for the Holidays are all over the place. But two ladies, who could easily be an SNL skit of their own, have a daily toy show full of gems like environmentally safe Tegu magnetic building blocks. Pretty cool toy. The series leads up to the release of Shaw's latest 'The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A. »

Chicago – One of the most beloved films of the year and a likely contender for the Oscar for Best Picture now that the category has expanded to ten nominees, Pixar’s “Up” was recently released on Blu-Ray in yet another lovingly produced set from a company that has been a pioneer in the next-gen format. “Up” doesn’t exceed expectations but also doesn’t falter from the critically-acclaimed pattern.
Blu-Ray Rating: 5.0/5.0
Pixar has built a reputation by taking unexpected character models and turning them into movie magic. Whether it be toys that come to life, a refined rat, a family of superheroes, or a lovable robot, one never can judge a Pixar character by its cover. Such is the case with Carl Fredericksen (Ed Asner), the delightful hero of “Up” who just happens to be a crotchety old man.
Up was released on Blu-Ray and DVD on November 10th, 2009.

So there is no real need to bore you with what many already know and that is these are my two favorite Pixar movies of all time with The Incredibles right in the mix there. Perhaps the reason why these two are my favorite it because of the imaginative nature of both.
Let’s start with this year’s best movie, Up. In my theatrical review I said that the film was “worth watching because when you go home you are still thinking about it. This is a film when you leave the theater and you’re not only thinking about it the next day, but this is one I will be thinking about next year.” I wasn’t kidding about this when I wrote it and I am still thinking about even now as I own the Blu-ray. The film is the perfect blend of comedy, love and »

Running Time: 1 hr 36 mins
Rating: G

Plot: After the passing of wife, an elderly man (Asner) ties balloons to his house in an attempt to reach a giant waterfall in South America. He is unexpectedly accompanied by a young boy named Russell, (Nagai) and later a talking dog and a rare bird.
Who’S It For? There is no type of human being that the story of Up can not reach out to. There is an element of death, but it is handled in such a way that these lessons will only be beneficial for children learning about such a topic.
Movie:
In this age, it seems like Pixar may be the only soulful storytellers of that little idea called love. This was felt in 2008’s Wall-e, but since then the animation »

It would appear another Pixar film has grown on me after seeing it in theaters. Previously Ratatouille disappointed me in theaters only to become one of my favorite Pixar films along with Wall-e and Finding Nemo. Wall-e is probably the only Pixar film to truly knock me out in theaters as the hyperbole surrounding the famed animation studio's films is so over-bearing I tend to find myself falling for these films once the waters die down, and it appears the same has happened with Pixar's tenth feature film, Up.
Of course, I already gave the film a "B+" in my theatrical review and listed it in the fifth spot on my list ranking the first ten Pixar films. So, to say the film has grown on me doesn't give it much more room to go, but there it is, and once again Pixar and Disney have put together an impressive »

When talking about the latest Pixar, it’s easy to fall into superlatives. Really, there’s only one modestly bad apple, and that’s Cars. The other film singled out as less than is A Bug’s Life, but that’s a solid film in its own right, and probably their most underrated. So is it fair to call Up a masterpiece? Yes. Yes it is. My review of Up after the jump.
Carl Frederickson (voiced by Ed Asner) has led a great life. He and his wife Ellie were together for a very long time, but there were two minor problems in their marriage. One, she couldn’t get pregnant, and two their plans to go adventuring were always cut a little short by life. After she passes away, Carl is one of the few holdouts in his neighborhood that hasn’t sold his house, and so contractors are »

Pixar’s command of digital animation has captivated an entire generation of viewers and with Up , its tenth film, it has actually taken some interesting chances. First, they focused on a senior citizen, the very demographic totally abandoned by Hollywood despite the longevity now being enjoyed by many.
It also decided to take storytelling chances by stretching how many absurdities we can accept in a single film. Previously, we were asked to accept one major concept per film: toys that can talk, a world powered by children’s screams, and so on. Here, we’re being asked to accept an awful lot and frankly, sitting through the film, I think it asked for too much.
Up arrives on DVD tomorrow and comes in Walt Disney Home Video’s controversial multi-package format. The Blu-ray edition contains four discs: the film and extras, a second disc of extras, the film and some »

Critics and audiences alike often get flack for championing Pixar’s films every time a new one is released. While everyone does go crazy with praise, just take a look at their catalog. Cars and A Bug’s Life may not be up to the standards of Toy Story 2, Wall-e, or Finding Nemo but they’re still better than half of the animated movies that are released over the years. If anything they’re probably the best studio around as they consistently churn out projects that above all put their story and characters first. One year ago, everyone crowned Wall-e as their finest achievement and was on many “best of” lists, mine included. While Up is certainly going to be there this year, my question now is will it remain on top? While it’s dropped a place or two, there’s no denying that Pixar has crafted their finest film. »

By tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl and his house liftoff and head to Paradise Falls, a secluded spot in South America.
Shortly after takeoff, Carl discovers that he is not alone: an overly optimistic 8-year-old wilderness scout named Russell (Jordan Nagai) has unintentionally stowed away on the former balloon salesman's porch. Unable to turn back, the odd couple continues south. Upon arrival, the two discover that they are not alone. They meet the once-legendary explorer . and Carl's »

Newlywed socialite Khloe Kardashian has laughed off tabloid reports her marriage with basketball star Lamar Odom is in trouble less than three weeks after they tied the knot.
The reality TV star wed the Los Angeles Lakers player on 27 September, just one month after they began dating.
America's Star magazine this week (ends16Oct09) claimed the couple was already having marriage problems and suffered their first major fight after Odom refused to give his new wife a massage.
A source told the tabloid, "Khloe and Lamar are already hanging by a thread.
"He refused and blew up at her, saying she should give him a massage... Khloe threw a huge fit and slept in another room."
But Kardashian, who admits to having "a good laugh from (the) lies", is bemused by the false rumours, because she couldn't be happier.
In a blog post entitled, You Gotta Love Ridiculous Gossip!!!, she writes, "According to Star, our marriage is on the rocks because I threw a fit when Lamar refused to give me a massage!!! I seriously died when I read that!
"Married life is incredible and I've never been so happy. I feel so blessed to have Lamar and I can't wait to spend my life with him." »

Hugh Hefner can't really accuse his estranged wife of cramping his style, but he's seeking more freedom just the same. The Playboy founder and main man on The Girls Next Door has filed for divorce from Kimberley Conrad Hefner after 20 years of marriage—the last 11 of which they've spent separated. In his petition filed Sept. 4 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Hef asks that a judge trim his monthly support payments from $40,000, the amount he's been shelling out since they split up in 1998, to $20,000. The pajama-favoring publishing mogul has given Kimberley more than $12 million over the past decade, according to the filing. They have two teenage children together. "There »
