Someone appears to have finally told Stan Lee that Anthony Hopkins will play Odin in "Thor," and he had a thing or two to tweet about it, including what he would like to do in the film when it comes out in 2011. Also on the Marvel movie front, "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau expressed dismay over the effect "World of Warcraft" could have on his editing process.
Elsewhere, Bryan Lee O'Malley shared a look at the new Danish-translated "Scott Pilgrim" volume he received, as well as some on-the-fly Google interpretation of Danish. You can find all those tweets after the jump along with Dan Slott on "Micronauts," Jim Lee on the passing of Halloween and a rad custom Mockingbird action figure.

When Anthony Hopkins finishes his work as Odin in Marvel's adaptation of Thor, Variety reports he will play a different icon — Ernest Hemingway in Andy Garcia's Hemingway and Fuentes.
Hemingway and Fuentes is the first movie Garcia has directed since making his 2005 debut, The Lost City. It chronicles the two decades Hemingway spent in Cuba fishing with best friend Gregorio Fuentes. The project became a personal one for Garcia, who plans to play Fuentes, after meeting some of the men who fished with Hemingway.
I was specifically most interested in Hemingway's connection to Cuba, where he spent the last 20 years of his life, and his relationship with his last captain, Gregorio. As an avid fisherman, I got to know older Cuban fisherman who knew Gregorio from the fishing culture of the '40s and '50s, and who would compete in tournaments outside the city of Havana, which was »

Natalie Portman doesn’t want to turn into Denise Richards who is remembered more for being naked rather than her acting…though, really, there’s little chance of that.
The former Star Wars star is not opposed to doing nude scenes when it’s called for, she’s against nude celebrity web sites like Mr. Skin.
Portman originally turned down a role in Wayne Wang’s 1999 film Anywhere But Here, but joined the project when her nude scene was written out of the film. “I’m not opposed to sexuality or nudity in a film, but I’m very opposed to pornography sites and you’re pretty much giving them material if you do any of that,” she told V magazine. “It’s always a big dilemma for me.”
Portman added that it’s “annoying because online bullshit interferes with what I want to do artistically.”

Anthony Hopkins has agreed to play Ernest Hemingway in Andy Garcia's biopic, Hemingway And Fuentes. The film is a drama about the two decades Hemingway spent in Cuba that ultimately led to the creation of his Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Old Man and the Sea, his final book published before he shot himself in the head with his own prized shotgun.
Garcia teamed up with Hemingway's granddaughter to pen the script, with the film focusing mainly on his close friendship with Gregorio Fuentes and their love for deep-sea fishing. It was Hemingway's other amorous affair with a beautiful Italian girl that inspired him to write the famous fishing tale.
At the moment Garcia is looking for funding, and in his search he discovered some sage advice from grand vizier, Francis Ford Coppola, who told him "the way you make a movie is, you begin." Garcia will play Fuentes »

Anthony Hopkins and Annette Bening join Andy Garcia in "Hemingway and Fuentes." Garcia will also direct from a script he co-wrote with Hilary Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway's granddaughter.
Variety tells us, that the drama chronicles the two decades that Hemingway spent in Cuba fishing with his best friend, Gregorio Fuentes. There, the author fell in love with a beautiful Italian girl who inspired him to write "The Old Man and the Sea."
Hopkins will play the author, Garcia will play Fuentes, and Bening will play the author's third wife, Mary Welsh Hemingway.
This film has been a long-gestating passion for Garcia.

This isn’t too much of an update, but it definitely follows that path of Ed Norton that we’ve become accustomed to in reference to his future with Marvel Studios as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
Capone at Ain’t It Cool News had a chance to interview the talented and hands-on actor/producer for his work on the documentary, By the People: The Election of Barack Obama, where he was specifically asked to talk only about that project. However, Capone was able to get in a few questions for the fans and that meant a question or two about The Incredible Hulk 2 and The Avengers.
Like I said above, we seemingly get an update from Ed Norton every few weeks about his involvement with Marvel’s future films, alternating between positive and hopeful, to negative and unlikely. This week’s update fall under the latter.

It’s been a fair while since Anthony Hopkins has had the chance to stretch his legs within a role, and I can think of no better opportunity for him to remind people what a fine actor he is than by stepping into the shoes of Ernest Hemingway.
That’s exactly what he’ll be doing for Andy Garcia (yes, The Godfather Part III’s Andy Garcia) in Hemingway & Fuentes, a biopic drama that will focus on “the two decades that Hemingway spent in Cuba fishing with his best friend Gregorio Fuentes, where he fell in love with the beautiful Italian girl who inspired him to write ‘The Old Man and the Sea.’”
Garcia himself will be playing Fuentes, with Annette Bening as Hemingway’s wife, Mary.
It seems that the actor/director has had an interesting connection with the material, dating back to the 1970s:

Late last week, news broke that Anthony Hopkins had joined the cast of Thor as the Nordic paterfamilias, Odin. As I was writing up the news, I could practically see the Thor coverage that will titter across USA Weekend, Entertainment Tonight, and the local newspapers that are still landing on your driveway by 2010 and 2011. There will be so many articles shocked (shocked!) that an actor of Hopkins' caliber has chosen to embrace the pulp of the colored panels, smirking at pervasiveness of the geek trend, and engaging in shallow cultural criticism. It will look remarkably like USA Weekend's goggle-eyed look at the ladies of Iron Man, The Dark Knight, and The Incredible Hulk back in 2008.
Now, there's no doubt that the pages of Marvel, DC, and all the Dark Horses in between are being taken far more seriously than they once were. I think it's also becoming a bit of a Hollywood trend, »

From Multiplayer: Captain America and Thor will both have big years in 2011. The two Marvel superheroes and original Avengers have their own feature films scheduled to hit theaters, but as of today they also have their own Sega games marked on the calendar.
Though "scheduled release dates are subject to change," according to a Marvel Q3 earnings report, "Thor" is tagged for May and "Captain America" for July. Those releases coincide with Kenneth Branagh's "Thor" and Joe Johnston's "The First Avenger: Captain America," respectively.
Sega's "Iron Man 2" game, meanwhile, is slotted for April 2010, one month ahead of its movie counterpart starring Robert Downey Jr.

Right now, those names look like they might be tentative on the Thor and Cap titles, though. It's interesting that "Captain America" is the only one of the three games not labeled to correspond with its movie. Granted, "The First Avenger: Captain America" is a pretty long title, »
