Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and its recent sequel are great adventure videogames that springboard off of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, with much more fluidity and cinematic flair than we’re usually accustomed to in gameplay. That said — it’s a videogame, and like all videogames, it will shine most brilliantly as something interactive, while a film will only diminish its value.
Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, the screenwriters behind A Sound of Thunder, the upcoming Conan, and Sahara have been tasked with bringing Uncharted to life on the big screen.
As an adventure film, this has plenty of potential — about as much as it stands to derive many of its qualities from the Indiana Jones franchise. However, that vacuum left by Indy’s last crusade has never been successfully filled by any successors; could Uncharted transcend the usual flaws of videogame adaptations and become a truly great action-adventure franchise? »

I gotta admit, as much as I don’t see Rose McGowan as Red Sonja, the fact that she seems completely gung-ho about making the movie happen come hell or high water sort of makes me want to see it. Surely, if the lead actress is this excited about a movie, it couldn’t be all bad — right? In any case, back in August McGowan tweeted that the movie was delayed, referencing “real life”, but didn’t really say what that meant. Now we know: she had injured herself, enough that it required surgery which is scheduled for later this year. Says McGowan: “I need one more arm surgery from nerve damage so I’m supposed to have that the beginning of December so if you see me anywhere I’ll be hobbling around with a cast. It’ll be very pretty. We’re hoping to start filming again in maybe a year. »

The fate of director Robert Rodriguez's live-action adaptation of the Red Sonja comic book was in doubt after the lead actress, Rose McGowan, was badly injured while performing a stunt for the movie. After McGowan initially said that she "pulled out" of the production, she quickly clarified her statement, saying that the movie was "delayed," but "not permanently."
At the recent Moca 30th Anniversary Gala, Fox News' Pop Tarts spoke with McGowan about her condition and the status of Red Sonja:
I need one more arm surgery from nerve damage so I'm supposed to have that the beginning of December so if you see me anywhere I'll be hobbling around with a cast. It'll be very pretty. We're hoping to start filming again in maybe a year.

For as much as we hear about celebrities for all the scandal and negative things in which they find themselves entangled, it’s rather refreshing to hear about one of them doing something good.
One such celeb doing her part is music legend Bette Midler.
Back in 1995, Midler noticed a lack of upkeep in New York City parks and public spaces and decided to do something about it. This spurred her to start the New York Restoration Project.
The goal of the foundation is to plant one million trees in New York City by 2017. Midler is already on a roll with the project, having just recently planted her 250,000th tree. She also revamped a garden near Yankee Stadium.
And no, the singer isn’t just a name behind the foundation. Said Midler in an interview with Good Housekeeping, “I realized I needed to actually do something — even if it meant »

New writers Dave Lease and Megan Hinds have sold their spec script for The Black Phantom, a comedy in which a “double-crossed Caucasian mob hitman turns for help to an unlikely source: the title character, an African-American hitman who was hired to kill him.”
Newcomer Doug Aarniokoski will direct the feature with Will Packer producing.
Aarniokoski was the orginally supposed to make his debut with the ill-fated Red Sonja reboot but the production has drifted into limbo. In September, Rose Mcgowan, who was slated to play the fierce female warrior, tweeted the following:
“Just this once i’ll address questions about Red Sonja&others;i was meant to do in ‘08.”
“Major personal &private;reasons I pulled out.Starting 2 want to work again. Sometimes real life f*cking sucks. That’s all. God bless us survivors.”

Rose McGowan (Grindhouse) spoke to FoxNews about her upcoming "Red Sonja" movie that will re-team her with director Robert Rodriguez. One reason, she said, the project came a standstill is because she injured her arm while performing numerous stunts. "I had wrist and elbow surgery and they took part of my elbow out," said McGowan. "I had really bad nerve damage from doing stunts - I do a lot of my own stunts. I could no longer use my arm, but now I can hold a fork and drive so we're working our way up. It'll probably be another six months of rehab, but it's the price you pay for being really limber and being able to do back flips." Knowing this, her previous Twitter statement now make sense. "To clarify press reports: Red Sonja is delayed," she recently wrote. "I pulled out of doing it in '09. Not permanently. »

The production of "Red Sonja" has apparently been halted because lead actress Rose McGowan was seriously injured during a stunt. Fox News' Pop Tarts brought the matter into attention following a recent interview with the star of "Grindhouse" herself about the extent of her injury.
"I had wrist and elbow surgery and they took part of my elbow out. I had really bad nerve damage from doing stunts - I do a lot of my own stunts," the 36-year-old confessed. Grindhouse hot stuff Rose McGowan gave an update on the beleaguered and nearly disbanded Robert Rodriguez production of Red Sonja via her Twitter account.
“Just this once i’ll address questions about Red Sonja&others;i was meant to do in ‘08,” she typed. “Major personal &private;reasons I pulled out.Starting 2 want to work again. Sometimes real life f*cking sucks. That’s all. God bless us survivors.”
So is Red Sonja dead? McGowan followed up her original sentiments and said, ‘“To clarify press reports: Red Sonja is delayed. I pulled out of doing it in ‘09. Not permanently.Hopefully will follow Conan.”
Two months ago, producer Joe Gatta said the Red Sonja project was delayed due to the economy.
The reboot of Conan will be helmed by Friday the 13th director Marcus Nispel after Brett Ratner walked away from the project in June. The film is expected to arrive in theaters in 2010.

It seems like anyone waiting to see Rose McGowan wield a giant sword in Red Sonja will have to wait a while longer - haven’t we said this before?
The Robert Rodriguez produced / Douglas Aarniokoski directed film has been chugging along in development for quite some time now, and it was recently put on hold due to the economic downturn. It looked like McGowan might not suit-up (or should that be suit down) to play the titular heroine, but now the actress has taken to Twitter to soothe fans fears.
Although having said that, the film is over a year away at the very least. Wwill the actress’ schedule hold out?
McGowan’s first post on Twitter said:
“Just this once i’ll address questions about Red Sonja & others; i was meant to do in ‘08. Major personal &private; reasons I pulled out. Starting 2 want to work again. Sometimes real life f***ing sucks. »

Red Sonja was delayed a bit thanks to, of all things, the bad economy. The poster image we're using here debuted at Comic Con over a year ago, and still there's not a frame of film to show for it.
But it's still on, apparently. Rose McGowan recently Tweeted that she's "still contracted to do Red Sonja. Saying it should shoot next year, McGowan mini-blogged, "I pulled out of doing it in '09. Not permanently. Hopefully will follow Conan."
The reason, of course, is simple: It's the same group of producers. Conan is scheduled to go into production soon, so that schedule is certainly the best option since Conan begat Red Sonja in the comics. »
