Plot; Cobra agent Zarana goes undercover to tap into the Joe's computer network and falls in love with the team's computer tech, Mainframe.

Ahh, forbidden love. Always a good storytelling hook, even when it occurs amidst a hail of laser fire in the 80s style battle between good and evil of G.I. Joe. It's all handled in a reasonably, or at least relatively, mature fashion.

Warning: Spoilers
Warning do not read unless seen episode.

We all constantly find connection, for some it can take the longest time and some even travel great distances to find it. However the strange thing about connection is that it never really happens the way we indent or image it, because really it's all a matter of it finding us because most of the time that person is much closer than you think.

This is my fourth favorite episode of the show, this one is a different one from the rest, there is a plotline but it's really nothing that important, by its nature it's really just a clothes line. This is an episode that is concerned and focused on both Mainframe and Zarana. I really like the interaction between both, I bought into it, the episode really shows there really is more going on inside both of them other than their jobs.

The chemistry between them has more sparks flying than a circuit board. It's funny just seeing Zarana in her role as a serious military personal officer interacting with Mainframe for the first time and as we see it's not a great first impression. There is even a suspenseful and funny moment when Zarana is about to either knock or take mainframe out whenever she picks up a different tool, he of course takes it as it's the right one he needs for the job.

But of course, we see them warm up to one another from that one moment when Mainframe saves her life. And of course, there is that fight in the restaurant uninspiringly called "The Joes Place" get it. From some of what she says and her hesitance it's interesting seeing Zarana is realizing certain feelings she's beginning to have that she never got a chance to.

When you think a lot more about her position in things, it's kind of sad, you get the feeling Zarana could have been on the Joe's side, that military role she's posing as could have been her carrier had she made different decisions or was never influenced by all the wrong people in her life. Granted both Zartan and Zarana are brother and sister and went into the merc/spy business together (I think) but it's not all that great as we see Zartan is a little rude to her as throughout the operation is sort of insulting her a little even near the end. There is even a little with Mainframe's life which isn't any better from his failed marriage it broke a little of his own perspective on love as we see he's resided in the loner life because it seems safe. So, both have something in common both are lonely souls without any real connection to their lives until now.

It then comes down to a pivotal moment, where Zarana makes a choice which showed that despite the deception her feelings for Mainframe were real. We see both have developed a bond in the end which despite their brief time together is strong as both don't betray each other, from Zarana saving Mainframe's life and Mainframe not turning her in.

The ending is touching as you see in the end a split screen shot of both Mainframe and Zarana both looking out at the moon, thinking about each other. Despite on different sides of the spectrum and miles away, their thoughts and feelings for each other are never far away.
