Jerry Bruckheimer Gets a Shake

Jerry Bruckheimer has picked up rights to Derek Haas' short story titled Shake, and set the writer to develop into a feature-length screenplay.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the origin of Haas' story was a new site called Popcornfiction.com that he recently created for TV and film writers to showcase their pulpy short fiction. Among the contributors are Craig Mazin (Superhero Movie), Scott Frank (The Lookout), Jeff Lowell (Over Her Dead Body) and Nichelle D. Tramble (Women's Murder Club).
"I wanted to create a place where new popular short fiction could flourish and Hollywood could have a new resource for cultivating great ideas," Haas says on the site.
Bruckheimer apparently visited the site, loved Haas' story of an FBI agent chasing a killer while he begins to lose control of his own body and bought the idea for a potential Disney film.
No production date has been set.

[DVD Review] I Love You, Man (DVD)

After seeing I Love You, Man for the second time, one thing became clear to me: Paul Rudd and Jason Segel are charmers. It may seem like an obvious observation, but it rings more true than ever when you realize that you just watched the duo carry an entire film on their comedic talents alone. Seriously, these guys could make watching paint dry entertaining. I recently had the misfortune of stumbling upon a sad excuse for a film entitled Over Her Dead Body and you know what? Even in that shitpile, Rudd shone as a bright beacon of light amongst vacant, blank-eyed actors with none of his charisma, nor his acting chops. He always somehow manages to exude an air of unaffected sincerity and warmth; there's absolutely nothing malicious about his brand of humor. That said, Segel definitely manages to hold his own against the relatively established Rudd, at times even overshadowing the latter.

I was recently prompted to take a look back at my reviews of 2009, average out the grades and see how things shaped up. However, once I got done with that I began wondering how this year stacked up to earlier years and my first days reviewing films back in 2003. Of course, I dreaded the prospect.
For those of you that are either new to the site or don't read all of my posts, you may not know how I feel about my early movie reviews back when I started RopeofSilicon.com. Perhaps you think I am awful right now, and if that's the case, I cringe at the thought of what you would think of my writing back then.
As for this little experiment, I have listed the overall grade point average for my reviews on a per-year basis, the total number of reviews, the best and worst reviewed movies

American actress and producer, Lake Bell who has starred in ER, Miss Match and the film 'Over Her Dead Body' alongside Eva Longoria, discusses the difficulties of marriage, and the impact societal changes have on this age-old institution.
Speaking exclusively to t5m, Lake reminds us all that 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' - and that marriage isn't the only way of cementing commitment. Explaining that now we live longer and healthier lives, the necessity to live and die with the same person is an 'antiquated idea' - and that she intends to follow her parents advice of 'not getting married!'.

Despite being a successful actress having appeared in ER, Miss Match and the film 'Over Her Dead Body' with Eva Longoria, Lake reveals exclusively to t5m quite how much she enjoys being on the other side of the camera, as a producer.
Admitting she has an 'obsession' with organisation and control due to the 'emotional' task of being an actor, Lake explains that she loves making things happen and going into difficult meetings to make her pitch! Not only this, but Lake also views her role as a 'producer' as enabling her to support talented people - afterall, as Lake admits, there are some pretty bad movies out there!

Animal lovers rejoice! You have another dog movie heading your way.
Universal Pictures has acquired the big-screen rights to Spencer Quinn's novel "Dog on It: A Chet and Bernie Mystery."
Variety reports Jeff Lowell will write the screenplay, about an investigator and his dog trying to find a missing person.
If the dog in the movie is not enough, get ready for this: "Dog on It" will actually be told from the animal's point of view.
Lowell, whose writing credits include "John Tucker Must Die" and the awful "Over Her Dead Body," also recently wrote "Hotel for Dogs," a movie that didn't really amuse me that much.
Other recent big-screen dog flicks include "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" and "Marley & Me." I say it's time for a break, no?
