- In the French version, the latest treasure from Uncle Georges is a device which is supposed to detect deliveries and release an alarm when it does so. Doc wants to use it to get the mail, which makes Croquette jealous. The machine only succeeds in attracting such items as balls, shoes, and a broom, and Croquette has to bark when the postman does arrive. Meanwhile, Uncle Traveling Matt observes a group of men patiently fishing for shoes.
- In the UK version, the Captain is complaining to Commander Ponsomby on the phone that he does not like the new electronic device the Commander has placed in the lighthouse. But when he and Sprocket realize the machine will take over a lot of their tasks so they can sleep late, he decides to plug it in after all. Later, the machine prints out all sorts of information on paper, but the Captain doesn't understand any of it. In the end, Sprocket is buried under a pile of printed paper. He and the Captain agree that machines are more trouble than they are worth. Uncle Matt's postcard is the same as the U.S. version.
