Wait - does that sound right? Baz Luhrmann and Kung Fu? Well, this is certainly something interesting to talk about. THR is reporting that Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is now in talks to direct a big screen reboot, or a re-adaptation, of the 1970s martial arts western TV show Kung Fu, which starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine. Luhrmann most recently brought an extravagant, music-filled adaptation of The Great Gatsby to the big screen last summer, and it sounds like this may be next for him at Legendary Pictures if things come together. It isn't finalized yet, but could be a fun chance for Luhrmann to branch out. The project, with no other title other than Kung Fu so far, comes with a script by Rich Wilkes (of Airheads, xXx Trilogy, Punk Like Me, Iron Fist). In development at Legendary Pictures, the "big-screen adaptation" is one of the many projects they've launched that involves,...

All the superheroes in the Marvel Universe screaming to get made, and the next movie they plan to focus on is Iron Fist? This is all according to Deadline, which reports that Marvel Studios has hired screenwriter Rich Wilkes (Airheads, xXx, Punk Like Me) to start writing the first draft of an Iron Fist movie. At least, Dr. Strange is the other lesser known project the studio has in the works, being they hired writers last year (Conan writers, Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer).

His powers and abilities are basically what is referred to as a concentration of his chi in his fist, causing the “Iron Fist” capabilities. He also has a healing ability and is a Master martial artist. Daniel “Danny” Rand is the main character that becomes the Iron Fist. After his...

Aw come on, why this writer? We've heard occasional mention every so often that Fist was one characters Marvel was soon going to be bringing to the big screen, however this is the first actual announcement we've seen. Deadline reports that Marvel Studios has hired screenwriter Rich Wilkes (Airheads, xXx, Punk Like Me) to start writing the first draft of an Iron Fist movie. Iron Fist is a martial arts expert from the Marvel Universe whose battle with a dragon ended when he plunged his hands inside of the beast's molten heart, turning his fists into indestructible weapons and, of course, turning him into a Marvel comic book character. Marvel tried to make an Iron Fist movie with Artisan nearly a decade ago, with martial arts expert Ray Park the frontrunner to play Daniel Rand, but that never came about. Marvel also recently began work on a Dr. Strange movie,...
