A remake of year three's Fossil Men episode, but filmed and acted with more all-important GUSTO than Fossil Men. Deadly amphibians wish to rule the seven seas with the help of Seaview and seaman Kowalski (Del Monroe).
Many people are surprised I am so interested in old Irwin Allen television like Voyage/Sea and they want a reason as to why I still like such shows in the 21st century. My reasons can be hard to put into words but a lot of it comes down to a simple thing called: Energy. And Deadly Amphibians is loaded with energy. Granted, this hour is about guys in amphibian costumes, but the whole cast of actors in Deadly Amphibians talk with such energy and strength, we the viewer get so taken in by the hour! There is also energy in the music score and even the sound effects guy seems to put more effort into this hour.
The teaser (the start) of Deadly Amphibians is a perfect taste of things to come: A simple scene of the Seaview being blasted and then crashing to the bottom is turned into one of the shining moments of season four Voyage by the sound effects guy and an oddly amusing image of the amphibians jumping with joy as the Seaview hits bottom!
Kowalski the thug seems to be having a ball in this episode and his joy is a joy to us the viewers.
