Such a lovely start.

Potty Pottle, Vicar of Dibley dies, leaving a vacancy, step forward Geraldine, the new Vicar of Dibley. She faces a bit of hostility, but is a success with the locals.

It's a delightful start to the series, glorious, light hearted, good spirited, heart warming comedy, there is nothing offensive or unkind here, it's just thirty minutes of lovely humour.

It challenges the norm, change is essential.

It just works, it's sad to see how many of the original cast have now passed away.

Lovely 8/10.

Off to the races

This initial episode is quite charming and fun, although as the series progressed it improved. The fact that Geraldine doesn't appear until about a third of the way into the show helps rate this lower than other episodes, since Dawn French is the real reason to watch (although Emma Chambers as Alice proved her worth over and over.)

Some of the running jokes (like Owen's bowel movements) were a bit tedious, but the ensemble worked well together and provided an enjoyable half hour.

One of the most fun parts of the show is the joke at the end, and this one about the nun and the blind man proved to be probably the funniest of all, heightened by Alice's reaction.
