- Scott Turner, a sports agent with a client considering releasing him, leaves the street when his car breaks down, gets lost in the woods, and stumbles on a large house with a great view and devoid of electricity - even cell phones don't work. He meets Marisa Sanborn, who says she got there in the same way after an argument with her fiancé, and they find the house contains enough room and settings for two with clothing and everything else their size. Soon they're joined by Ricki, a woman whom the house doesn't supply for, can get her cell to work, hates the isolation and rurality, and seems awed and impressed but unhindered by the harmful creatures that mysteriously come around the place...—brainybrailler@comcast.net
- Scott Turner [Rob Estes] is a fast-talking sports agent who represents a star basketball player named Javon Mercer. Scott's car has a flat tire on a traffic-congested road and he is on his cell phone trying to talk Javon out of signing with another agent who has apparently made him a better offer. He tells Javon he'll be there soon as he can, asking him not to sign anything til Scott arrives. Stressed that the auto company hasn't come to fix his flat yet, he goes into the bushes on the side of the road to pee, and suddenly finds himself in a forest that shouldn't be there... and that he can't find his way out of.
Wandering around, he finds his way to a beautiful mansion-like house and knocks to see if he can find help. The door is open, and he wanders in, finding a beautiful blonde woman [Elizabeth Berkeley] standing on the balcony, trying to call someone on her own cell phone. She notices him and starts asking for SCOTT'S help, saying she got lost after running out of her fiancé Paul's [Lauchlin MacDonald] car following a fight while they were stuck in traffic, apparently on the same road Scott had been stuck on. The woman's name is Marisa Sandborn, and she is a realtor who knows the area she had been in before she found herself lost in the forest... a forest she is sure beyond a doubt, doesn't exist in that area... nor does the beautiful lake visible from the living room window.
Scott and Marisa find their cell phones don't work in the house or the surrounding forest. They go exploring the forest, and finding no egress, return to the house to find food. They find that while the house has no electricity of any kind, it has plenty of candles and a fireplace, and the house is stocked with plenty of food, and the closet is stocked full of clothes in their size that fit them perfectly. That night while swimming in the pool they find themselves becoming romantically attracted to each other. They begin to realize they can make a new life together in the house, leaving the stresses of their old lives behind to live together in happiness. The next evening they are sitting by the fireplace and decide to commit to a new life there, throwing their wallets and cell phones into the fireplace to be consumed by the fire.
The next morning a young girl [Nicki Aycox] comes stumbling to the house, with a bump on her head and walking unsteadily. They bring her to the house and put an icepack on her head and let her rest. The girl tells them her name is Rikki, and she was riding a motorcycle when it flipped over on an oil patch and she hit her head and somehow wandered into the forest where she couldn't find her way out of it. Scott and Marisa introduce themselves, and seeing Rikki start to make a cell phone call, tell her that cell phones don't work here-- but no sooner do they say that when Rikki's call goes through and she is talking to a boyfriend named Cole, telling him she's okay but doesn't know where she is.
Marisa and Scott are talking later, and Marisa is very uneasy... she knows the house is made to provide for two people, not three. She knows Rikki doesn't belong here, somehow, though she is reluctant to simply put her out. But she begs Scott not to use Rikki's phone, sure that somehow, it will make them lose everything they have here.
Later that day Marisa is working in the garden when she gets stung by a wasp... the first one she'd seen in the area since arriving. Rikki finds her way there, talking to Cole on her cell phone and begging him to send help to find her and get her back home. Rikki and Marisa start talking and Rikki is puzzled why Marisa doesn't want to use her phone to try and call a worried loved one... like her fiancé Paul who Rikki says Scott mentioned to her. The three are finishing dinner later that evening when Marisa suddenly confronts Scott on telling Rikki about Paul, and just as suddenly jumps back and shrieks on sighting a scorpion crawling across the table. Rikki is completely unfazed on seeing the scorpion, thinking it's 'cool.'
The next day Scott is bringing wood in for the fireplace and Rikki is again talking on the phone. During small talk with Scott she mentions she is a big basketball fan and loves Javon Mercer, the player Scott represents. He tell her Javon is his client and she tries to suggest he call Javon to make sure he's still with Scott. She's puzzled when he turns her down, asking if it's because Marisa would disapprove. It starts to become clear that Rikki seems to be trying to turn Scott and Marisa against each other.
Later, Scott and Marisa are playing backgammon as Rikki is listening to a basketball game through her phone, and her cheering for her favorite team is distracting and disrupting. Suddenly Marisa spots a python crawling through the room. Rikki asks Scott not to kill it, so he carefully picks it up with a fireplace poker and tosses it out the front door.
Later still, Scott has caved in and is asking Rikki to let him make a call. Suddenly Rikki resists, but Scott presses, so she hands him the phone. Scott starts talking to Javon, and suddenly the clear peaceful blue sky visible outside gives way to a pitch-dark thunderstorm. Rikki is suddenly smirking unpleasantly as she takes her phone back and doffs her jacket, revealing a large snake tattoo on her right arm. As Marisa arrives, horrified at what Scott has done, Rikki tells them this was their chance to be free, and they only had to accept what they were given, but mortals always want it all. She walks to the window and tells them in a gloating tone, that it's time for them to leave.
Scott suddenly appears running back onto the road from the bushes, apparently no more than a minute after he'd ran into them... and yet his car's flat tire is fixed. Standing by his car, he tries to call Javon again, finding he has somehow misplaced his phone. He knocks on the darkened window of a black SUV that is next to his car. The window rolls down, revealing Marisa and Paul arguing with each other-- and Scott and Marisa have completely forgotten all about each other, that they ever knew each other... and about the Eden-like mansion. Scott asks if he can borrow a cell phone and Marisa realizes she's somehow misplaced hers. She apologizes and Scott assures her it's okay. Fade to black as the traffic starts moving again on the road and Paul and Marisa drive off... Marisa and Scott both stuck back in their respective stressful lives.
