Strategic bombing at night was the exclusive area of expertise of the RAF Bomber Command over Europe. When the USAAF was bombing Japan they switched to night bombing.
The only episode of the series directed by Lawrence Dobkin, and the only time he directed series lead actor Paul Burke, whose earlier series Naked City (1958) Dobkin had narrated, always with the ending line "There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them."
Most of the footage of the night bombing mission was from Desperate Journey (1942), which was about a British RAF crew flying an earlier B-17C model (designated Fortress I by the RAF), distinctive by the much smaller and differently shaped vertical tailfin.
