Splendid, even better than Perry Mason

Chacun à son gout: I differ diametrically with planktonrules's opinion. A brief diversion from the usual relentless bombing and period aerial footage, showing a different dimension of the principal characters in this classic military series. A very probing murder mystery revealing another side of WWII non-combat activity: internal espionage, blackmail and treason.

Death and danger on the ground
cbmd-3735212 March 2023
Going to London is just as dangerous as flying a mission for General Savage. He's caught in a bombing, and can't remember what happened, but was seen with a woman who was murdered that night. Being an honorable officer, he tries to trace his actions that night to learn the truth, no matter how painful it might be. The original story was by Edmund North, the only one he wrote. But it was apparently reworked by Charles Larson, associate producer of26 episodes. I think that accounts for the strong roles of Doc Kaiser, and particularly Major Stovall.

He is always a strong support for the General, and in this episode his skills as a lawyer lead him to question a policeman's actions, and literally save the General life. There will be 2 more episodes where Stovalls actions save the General.

A first....a rather bad episode!

So far, I've really enjoyed watching the "12 O'Clock High" television show...that is until I got to "Soldiers Sometimes Kill". It felt like a filler episode...complete with some bad cliches.

When the story begins, General Savage has been brought back to the base by one of his men and he seems completely irrational. Slowly he becomes more lucid...and learns that when he was in London a woman was killed...and he's a suspect! So, he heads back to London to retrace his steps, as he has amnesia for that night and wants to prove to himself he isn't a murderer.

This murder mystery episode is complete atypical of previous episodes and just seemed a bit contrived and silly. An easy one to skip.
