- Tired of being typecast in comedy roles, Buster, Babs, and Plucky set out to make a tragic action swashbuckler. With the help of a large team of animators, the trio succeed in making their film, but it has to pass muster from executive Cooper DeVille first.—Ian Lueck
- As the show starts, Buster Bunny, Babs Bunny, Plucky Duck, and Hampton Pig are taking part in a script-reading. However, Buster and Babs soon grow discontented with being stuck in a comedic quagmire, wanting to to do more. Plucky joins in with the sentiment, and the three head off to speak with Cooper DeVille.
Though DeVille doesn't really like the story they three want to tell, he feels that having the 3 stars make one, would be a 'great publicity stunt.'
The three then get to work on making their cartoon, often having to push to have their vision kept intact at every turn.
Finally, the short is completed, but DeVille won't allow it to be seen until he screens it first. Babs thinks this is unfair, and finds a way to broadcast the cartoon while DeVille watches.
In the cartoon, Babs plays a tragically put-upon southern Belle, who soon finds herself town between a muscle-bound (but quite illiterate) rabbit, and a rather egotistical duck in tights. In the end, the dramatic cartoon does nothing but infuriate DeVille, who claims it's bad. But as he thinks about it, he considers it to be so bad...it's actually good!
Upon seeing him enjoying himself, the three ask DeVille if they can make another, but he refuses. However, the three can keep their jobs, and return to the script-reading room, where they continue the script-reading from before...only now, they seem to be actively into it.
