Am not the biggest of sports fans, but various sports have been depicted many times in animation and generally very well (not always). And the previous 'Tiny Toon Adventures' Wacko World of Sports episode "Wacko World of Sports" mostly did very well with making the various sports depicted entertaining and accessible. So actually had little doubt that "Son of Wacko World of Sports" would be at least watchable and was hoping it would be the same thing.

Luckily "Son of Wacko World of Sports" was that. It is not a great episode or among the best of 'Tiny Toon Adventures'. It comprises once again of three segments all centered around sports. "Buster at the Bat" is a parody, or 'Tiny Toon Adventutres' take on, of the classic 'Casey at the Bat'. "Buster's New Bike" involves a new bike and a crooked dealer. "Acme Acres' Summer Olympics" is a take on the familiar scenario of competing against another school/college in various skills. On the most part, it's done quite well.

Despite loving Buster, my least favourite segment of the three is "Buster's New Bike". Buster is great and there are moments of wit, but the material lacked freshness and the story is very slight and predictable.

While much of "Son of Wacko World of Sports" is very amusing, well timed and the wackiness is there, it is not always hilarious and some of the pacing could have been snappier. Especially in "Buster's New Bike".

The other two fare a lot better though. Although there could have been a little more variety, "Acme Acres' Summer Olympics" fares best. It's the wittiest, wackiest and funniest of the three and has the best animation. The reactions and expressions are wonderfully exaggerated. "Buster at the Bat" surprised me, was worried about whether it would feel new or be too outdated but actually it turned out to be entertaining and with energy. Sylvester was an inspired narrator and the ending is indeed a surprise, the biggest one of the episode.

Animation in all three segments is colourful and beautifully detailed, primarily "Acme Acres' Summer Olympics" which was the cleverest in terms of expressions and how the characters reacted to things and each other. The music is characterful and infectious, the theme tune stays in the head all day without being a grating ear-worm. The voice acting is very good and the characters are all on good form.

Overall, not great but better than expected. 7/10
