Tony's dilemma

This is a terrific episode for this great show, which doesn't seem to get the credit it deserves as one of the better comedies ever produced, and I have no problems comparing Taxi to many other great shows, which receive more accolades. One of the main reasons I really like this show is how the characters seem to rally around each other when the chips are down, and here Elaine is upset about someone ending a relationship with her, and while at Mario's, the guys are trying to get her involved again. A few moments later, she and Tony head to the bar for a few drinks, and along comes a guy named Kirk, who's played by John David Carson. The guys basically force Kirk on Elaine, who's reluctant, but both agree to see each other on a future date. Long story short, Kirk visits the garage to break the bad news to Elaine; it turns out that she isn't the one he was interested in, but Tony of all people. Naturally, Tony takes his and Elaine's problem to Alex, who refuses to take on anymore problems and demands that Tony change the subject. In typical Alex fashion however, he reluctantly listens to Tony, and does what he usually does to help solve the current issue at hand. The next and best scene of the episode has Alex meeting Kirk in a gay bar, and considering this show is from 1980, disco was very in at that time, and many of the men in the bar are shaking their stuff. While Alex and Kirk share a few beers, a very tall and heavy man in a blue satin jacket asks Alex to dance, and he predictably declines, yet the man will not be denied, as Alex desperately clings to his chair. Soon after, he finds himself dancing with this man, and eventually winds up on top of the bar dancing like Tony Manero with the finger pointing up and down, as the men cheer him on. Tony shortly walks in the bar as Alex is being carried around by the men, and says something to him about while Elaine's having her heart broken Alex is here having a good time. Let me also mention there's a serious, but then funny moment with Louie and Tony alone in the garage, when Tony does the wrong thing and mention his problem to Louie, who has to be bought off to keep his mouth shut. This is just a great episode which has both serious and funny moments, and some good acting which makes this one a winner.
