Several continuity errors are present regarding the crash of the blue Cadillac. First, when the gun thugs in the Cadillac are fleeing from Hooker, as they approach the garbage truck there are no cars to the side of it, and they are going too fast to avoid hitting the truck head-on. After the camera shifts, there are parked cars beside the truck and the Cadillac is launched into the air after colliding with them- it never hit the truck. Second, Hooker was at most 30 feet behind the Cadillac as it entered the alley, but when it crashes the police car is nowhere in sight (it was likewise missing in the camera view showing the alley behind the Cadillac). Third, the backup lights are on as the Cadillac sails through the air, indicating the transmission was in reverse at that point even though the car was going forward. Finally, the order and number of the parked cars changes depending on the camera view.
When Hooker is looking for the little girl, his police car changes from a Dodge Monaco (vertical headlights) to a Dodge St. Regis (horizontal headlights).
The CHP calls in the pursuit of the Porsche, and a LCPD motorcycle unit says they see it and are presumably involved. Yet when Hooker is pursuing the Porsche, the motorcycle officers are nowhere in sight.
When Ramano calls in the license plate of the Blue Cadillac during the chase, hes says the plate number is 1AD378. In the next shot, the plate number is clearly OAD378.
Even with the continuity error that placed the police car much further away from the Cadillac when it crashed, Hooker and Romano were only seconds behind the gun thugs that fled on foot. Since there were several citizens that saw the gun thugs run away, Hooker should have asked which way they went and began a foot pursuit. Instead, he did nothing other than curse.
The car thief has the alarm remote and keys to the Porsche, jet he uses a slim jim to unlock the door.
