This is one of my favorite episodes. Two young teenage boys are friends, and they both come from broken homes. Tommy lives with foster parents, while Paul lives with his real mom Bonnie and his stepdad Bob. Bob suspects Bonnie may be seeing another sexy male. One day they get into an argument and he pulls out a gun and they struggle, while the 2 boys are watching them from the corner. The gun drops to the floor during the struggle as Paul's mom yells at him to pick up the gun and hide it. A gunshot is then heard, and Tommy is seen running from the house. Tommy is on the run the entire show and is suspected of killing his friend's stepdad. Bonnie explains to the detectives that Tommy is the one that pulled the trigger, figuring that he would not be arrested because of his juvenile and broken home status. Tommy is hurt by this, as his foster parents believe this story, and he runs away. He also becomes angry at his friend Tommy for helping his mom cover up the true killer. The detectives learn that Bonnie seeks help at a child abuse agency for compulsive lying. Knowing that Paul's fingerprints were not on the gun, they conclude that Bonnie was the killer. Tommy and Paul become friends again, and Paul ends up living with Tom and his foster parents.
