This version of Rubberband Man is a completely new original character than the one that appears in the Milestone comics. This version is African American named Adam Evans who wears a Purple costume. The Milestome comics was a petty crook of Puerto Rican decent named Karmon Stringer. The only thing both Rubberband Mans have in common are is the codename and powers.
The original television broadcast included the line "Even Clark Kent has a day job" when Richie welcomes Static to the Abandoned Gas Station of Solitude. This was removed from later broadcasts and the DVD release (leaving a long silence instead). When first produced, Static Shock was not part of the DCAU, and comic heroes were fictional in the show. After the second season, the line was cut as the series was absorbed into the DCAU.
When Sharon calls Virgil by his full name to get him to wake up, it is revealed that his middle name is Albert. In the original Milestone comics, Virgil's middle name is Ovid.
