Great first part of a two parter!

Do The Handicapped Go To Hell? is the season 4 two part episode.Almost every season of South Park has this. This episode involves the boys in church learning about hell and being afraid. They then start attending Sunday school and try to be good Christians to avoid going to hell. They find out that they have to be baptised, go to confession and receive communion. They are worried about Timmy because he cannot confess his sins(he can only say his name).Meanwhile in hell, Satan has a new boyfriend named Chris(who is a really nice guy) but Saddam comes back into his life and Satan still has feelings for him.Now he must choose between Saddam and Chris! This is a very funny episode.I find this one better than the second part though that was good as well.

Second part's even better

I'm surprised that I missed this episode, although I did see the later parts of it. The episode opens with Father Maxi scaring the kids about Hell. It then cuts to actually showing Hell where Satan is throwing a luau. That really does make more sense for the series. Hell seems to be a lot better than you'd think. Later in the episode, we do get to see people suffering in it.

I guess it's only bad for people that are sincerely bad? Anyway, I love the show's attitude on religion. It makes fun of it, but says that if you're a genuinely good person, it doesn't matter what you believe. I didn't quite know for a fact that Jews don't believe in Hell. I don't either. I don't understand religion, but I do believe in it. ***1/2

Save for one thing, I adore this episode and it serves as a wonderful continuation of "Bigger, Longer & Uncut"

Warning: Spoilers
I had just seen "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut" for the first time a couple of days ago and so things worked out serendipitously for me that I did watch the movie. This episode is a two parter and a mild continuation of the South Park movie. We get the chance to see Hell again, Satan is as delightful as ever, we get a hilariously silent Conan cameo and even Saddam returns.

That there is my only issue with this episode: Saddam Hussein. I have not enjoyed his appearances in South Park much at all. The season two premiere was a painfully bad experience, the South Park movie was only slightly bogged down by his storyline and this episode suffers likewise for me. I just don't find the satire in Parker & Stone's rendition of Saddam Hussein particularly sharp or funny the way I do with most of the series.

Satan has a new boyfriend, Chris, who's just a really top guy! Really, they're a perfect match! And when Saddam surprisingly shows up at Satan's doorstep, Chris makes the effort to get to know Saddam better and invites him to dinner. Really, everything about this storyline is excellent bar Saddam himself for me. And since he's a significant part of this story thread, he brings the episode down for me.

Onto the events in the town of South Park, hilarity and chaos ensues. After the priest's stern and grave warning of Hell, the children of South Park become increasingly concerned with avoiding entry into Hell and take part in a process of cleansing themselves of all sin. The commentary here is absolutely hilarious and the ending is a fantastic note with which to end this episode. Seeing Cartman in particular so concerned with wanting to be an upstanding devout figure is hilarious.

"Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?" is a mostly delightful episode and it's really one character and plot element that brings this one down for me. There's plenty of razor sharp South Park insight and commentary and while slightly disappointing, I look forward to the concluding chapter of this story.
