- Jason has the most atrocious nightmare of his life, about Lana leaving him for Clark, catching and separating them in the Kent barn and being stabbed by her. But he doesn't just wake up, but in hospital with symptoms of a continuing nightmare. Soon, many others in Smallville have similar experiences, even Clark, whose superpowers fortunately save him so he can find out the source of the epidemic is a failed experiment on Luthor Corp's fertilizer plant site, where an explosion released a hallucinogen bacteria being developed under a military contract, so he can help Lex deal with it. - After having a scary nightmare, Jason is interned in Metropolis Health Center in a coma with risk of death. Clark and Chloe decide to investigate, and find that Jason had had a meeting at LuthorCorp a few hours before. They go to the plant, and Chloe has the same trouble. Soon, many dwellers of Smallville have the same mysterious disease, and Clark finds that it is caused by an experimental bacteria released from LuthorCorp's laboratory after an explosion in the facility, and Lex assembles a team of scientists to work on an antidote.
