Susan Henderson: They call it a hard landing.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan: What's a hard landing?
Susan Henderson: It's what they do when they want to drive someone out. It's like hazing, only... a lot worse.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John: Is that what they did to you?
[Susan nods]
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John: Was it sexual? Were you... assaulted?
Susan Henderson: No, they don't care about sex. They just want to see us cry. Run off with our tails between our legs. And they did.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John: Susan...
[gets up]
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John: You know that none of this is your fault. They're the ones that are wrong. Who decides who gets this hard landing? The other cadets?
Susan Henderson: No, it's also with a senior officer. He chooses the target, someone who doesn't fit in, and then gives the orders to a cadet.
Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan: So the cadet gives the hard landing?
Susan Henderson: No, they... they work the target together.
Det. Sgt. Cassandra 'Cassy' St. John: An officer and a cadet? Why both?
Susan Henderson: To make a statement. They want you to know that no one, not the administration or the other students, wants you there. That you're all alone.
