- Carrie accidentally suggests that her friend Susan Sharon (Molly Price) leave her domineering, violent husband Richard (James Remar). Susan and Carrie meet once or twice a year only when Richard is out of town. Susan takes Carrie to her place to give her a birthday gift. They giggle, which makes Richard wake up and yell at Susan as their agreement was no visitors in the apartment after 9 pm. Richard says that he is on London time and he needs to be back up in 3 hours. Richard kicks Carrie out. Susan calls later to apologize, and Susan asks if she should leave Richard. Carrie replies that life is too short.
Carrie wonders if there are certain things in a relationship that you just don't say to each other.
Samantha tells Carrie that telling Susan to leave Richard was a mistake. If they separate, its Carrie's fault. If they don't, then Susan never speaks to her again as she knows Carrie thinks they should split. Susan leaves Richard and thanks Carrie for giving her the courage to do so, and she lives with Carrie for a night. Richard told Susan that if she left, he would be married within a year and Susan would be single and lonely for the rest of her life.
Miranda builds up the courage to talk dirty in bed. She is dating Aaron Millman (Neil Pepe), a dermatologist. He loves to talk dirty in bed and now he wants Miranda to reciprocate. Charlotte is good at dirty talk and coaches Miranda. When Miranda starts talking dirty with Aaron, it's difficult for her to shut up. Aaron completely disengages when Miranda talks about putting a finger into his ass.
Charlotte tries to replace the perfect man with the perfect dog. But the perfect dog has chewed through 4 of her shoes and is getting started on purses. He is not as perfect as she had hoped and won't even perform any tricks that Charlotte had taught him. The dog has to leave after one day when he takes a dump all over the apartment.
Samantha hasn't had sex with James for 6 weeks but wouldn't tell him the truth. She longs for the simple days of emotional unavailability and hot one-night stands. Samantha gets dragged to couples' therapy with James and tries to avoid talking about her real problem with their sex-life. James says that he saw her masturbate. Samantha hates shrinks, so to avoid seeing the shrink again, she tells James that his dick is too small. James says her vagina is too big and leaves.
Carrie gets roses delivered to her house from Big on her Birthday. Charlotte thinks this is an apology. She says that men cannot admit that they are wrong, so they send flowers. But Miranda says a rose is a rose. Carrie calls Big to thank for the roses. She invites him for a party Stanford (Willie Garson) is throwing her at Layla, a Moroccan restaurant. Big comes with Jack (Joseph Murphy), his friend, who is going through another breakup. Carrie is relieved. Carrie realizes that she is still not over Mr Big. Susan starts chatting Jack. Jack asks her "do you ever shut the fuck up". Susan goes back to Richard. Susan and Richard take Charlotte's dog and it saves their marriage.
