After Carrie's break-up with Mr. Big, despite Charlotte's rule it takes half the duration of a relationship to get over it, she lets true fan Miranda take her and Sam to the Yankees stadium, where she accidentally catches a ball and thus meets and invites, to everyone's surprise with success, charming baseball star Joe Starr to a party but bumps into Big there. Samantha is still miserable and tries to physically coach her James in bed, to no avail.
