- When Carrie's apartment is going co-op, Aidan proposes they buy it together. She finds a ring in his things, and accidentally insults Miranda who helped pick it out. Trey's MD tries to control Charlotte's reproductive zeal in light of the tough statistics of in vitro fertilization, and Charlotte looks into adopting a girl from China. At the annual Highland Fling, Bunny's objection to a 'Mandarin granddaughter' causes a marital row. Samantha finds out Richard Wright is a tough boss but into quick sexy without commitment, such as on a flight to Rio. Miranda tells Steve he's becoming a father but that she doesn't expect his help.—KGF Vissers
- Carrie's building goes Co-op, and she is faced with the prospect of moving houses. Carrie does not have the money to purchase the apartment outright. Aidan suggests that he has money and can buy two side to side apartments in the building, break a wall and have a large apartment for them to stay. Carrie for looking for her stuff and finds a ring in Aidan's bag and realizes that Aidan plans to propose. Carrie first reaction is that she vomits in the kitchen sink. She doesn't like the ring (pear shaped diamond with a gold band) and later finds that Miranda helped him pick that ring. Carrie has doubts about Aidan since he didn't even know that the ring he picked did not suit her personality.
Carrie attempts to ward off the proposal by telling Aidan that she would like to move in with him and agrees to his apartment plan. Carrie runs into Big and tells him that Aidan wants to propose. Big says that Carrie is not the marrying kind.
Aidan finally proposes to Carrie unexpected and to her surprise it's a beautiful ring. Turns out Aidan changed his mind and picked one that he thought Carrie would like. Carrie accepts. Turns out Samantha (who was against Carrie getting engaged), helped Aidan pick a nice ring for her.
Charlotte starts taking hormone injections, which Trey doesn't approve of. Charlotte suggests In-Vitro fertilization, but Trey is against that since the procedure is extremely invasive and the success rates are very low. Trey is also not happy that Charlotte is discussing this problem with other couples in their own building. He does not like this invasion of privacy. Charlotte discusses adoption with Trey, but hits a wall when Bunny finds out that the baby could be Chinese. Charlotte was already learning Cantonese as sometimes the agencies select a slightly older child. And its likely to be female as mostly unwanted girls are put up for adoption.
Charlotte and Trey have a public spat at a Scottish dance festival and Charlotte storms off. Charlotte believes that she is doing all the work, she is taking the hormone shots and the pills. Charlotte is also upset that Trey involved his mother in their life, while Trey is angry that Charlotte involved half the residents of their building into their private life. Trey is exhausted and says he doesn't want to have a baby anymore. He says he is already 43 years old and wonders that marriage was never supposed to be this much work. He says that having a baby can take several years and he is not up for it. Charlotte is inconsolable.
Miranda tells Steve she's having his baby. Steve proposes to Miranda, and she calls him crazy. Steve wants to be around the baby and wants to help.
Samantha is working for Richard Wright, who is always on her behind for not getting stuff done. Richard pulls up Samantha for every small little mistake and Samantha feels like she has to prove herself to Richard all the time. Samantha appears distracted to Richard and when asked she shares about the issues in Charlotte and Miranda's lives. Richard shares her views about not having babies or getting married. Samantha starts sleeping with her boss, Richard Wright.
