Warning: Spoilers
Rance Howard, the father of Clint Howard and Ron Howard plays the Blind Man in a critical supporting role at the end of The Glasses. It's hard to believe that The Glasses debuted over 30 years ago, yes three decades ago, yet Seinfeld is timeless and funny all these years later even though it's ostensibly a show about nothing.

Anyway, the Elton John line was hilarious. Also Timothy Stack, famous as Parker Lewis's father in Parker Lewis Can't Lose, guest stars and really Timothy Stack should have been given more leading roles (he did in Son of the Beach but he should have got more leading roles).

Season 5, Episode 3, "The Glasses" In spite of not often being considered one of the classic Seinfeld episodes, "The Glasses" is a favorite of mine. Even in the standards of the brilliant fifth season the episode stands out for me.

Even if the overall writing of the episode isn't perfect, and the story doesn't make much sense, the episode has some of the funniest moments in the show's history: George squinting himself into eating an onion instead of an apple, Kramer threatening Dwayne with a packet of sugar, Elaine showing rabies symptoms - these are some of the cast's greatest acting moments. Also noteworthy is Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn as Jerry's girlfriend of the week.

This is definitely one of the episodes that made me cry out tears while laughing!

Well it's known that Seinfeld fans are all split between being loyal either to George Costanza or Kramer as they are the two funniest characters on the show. I am blindly a Constanza's hysterical fan. For me, I love all of the 4 and even Elaine who is to be found probably the least loved amongst the 4. But, George Costanza, my God, he is number 1 reason why I adore this show and I can bluntly say after having watched all sitcoms ( I can swear that I have missed not one sitcom from 70's even though I wasn't born that time but I watched reruns) that Seinfeld is by far the smartest, funniest, and dearest to my heart and therefore, Costanza is also one of the most hopeless characters that you might meet in your life, not even Al Bundy, Skippy in family ties, Chandler in Friends, Bob in Becker, Fez in that 70's show, Dennis (david spade) in just shoot me, Matthew in NewsRadio, Steve Carell in the Office, all Drew Carrey's three main characters, Harry Solomon in 3rd Rock from the Sun, Andy in According to Jim, Clayton in Benson, Joey in Blossom, Eric in Boy meets world, Woody in Cheers, Spence in Ellen, Ray Romano, Niles and Fraiser, Tim in Home Improvement, Moss in the IT Crowd, M.A.S.H, Van in Reba, all characters in Taxi, Mork and Mindy, all the loosers that I could think of can never compare to Georgi. Every master scene in Seinfeld I remember, I find myself seeing George when he refuses to go up to his girl friend's apartment after she invites him to coffee and he replies that it keeps him up at night. when he later realizes what he's done, he tells Jerry : People this idiot shouldn't be allowed to live. I mean who is funnier than him! When he becomes a hand model and his father says to his mother who puts banana with a Jello and she says Georgi loves the banana and they start fighting ... he stands to leave the room stating that so much stress is not good for his skin. And his Art Vandelay obsession about being an architect! The funny lines just go on and on and they're all to George. When he pretends he is handicapped, when he eats from trash, when pretends to have a house in the Hamptons and drive all the way with Suzan's parents refusing to go back on his lie, when his parents take the desert they brought with them to Susan's parents for dinner and he strives to return it back, when he puts the case with a tape recorder in Suzan's some charitable association because he suspects that the chairman doubts he killed Suzan, etc... I honesty say that No George on the show , simply no Seinfeld. I wonder why people didn't like the last 5 seasons although they were full of funny episodes and one them is this one: The Glasses - there is this part where George wears the diving glasses because well you know he is so cheap and stingy so he is not seeing things clearly and at one scene he is telling Jerry that he was sure he saw his cousin kissing Jerry's girlfriend and at the same time he opens Jerry's fridge and takes an onion mistaking it for an apple and yet he grabs a bite from the onion. That was like the funniest moment ever... I teared after bursting with laughs that everybody in house was laughing without knowing what I laughed at. I have all the seasons on DVDs and I keep watching them all day with my earphones on and everybody tells me how I can't just get enough of this show. It's just so smart and funny that I believe not one show in the past nor one in the future had or will outcome this masterpiece of comedy and contrary to everybody else who says that the first 4 seasons were the best, I believe that the last ones were even better and all the characters matured not in a positive way of course but on the screen that we all got attached to them and connected to their selfishness, shallowness, and above all seinfeldness.

One more hysterical episode with ironically Jerry this time wearing the glasses, is the Gum. Check it and you won't regret it. Jerry is so funny in this one , he even for the first time steals the show from everyone else and there are few standouts for Georgi of course.

Dog Bites Elaine and no one cares.
ThunderKing622 September 2023
It's just like real life.

September 22 2023.

What is this episode of Seinfeld about?:

George shops for glasses

Elaine is bitten by a bully breed. (no one cares)

Jerry is suspicious of his girlfriend cheating on him

Kramer tries to get George a discount and installed an air conditioner.

The story and the production overview:

A fun absolutely nice episode. Minus the worthless mutt mauling Elaine.

Typical dognut bringing in their dog into a public building and having it maul someone for no reason. The owner just fleed without saying anything just like dognuts do in real life.

Overall this episode had jokes and a fun storyline.

Highlight:

AC Falling on the worthless mutant... Wanna get some pizza.

Laugh meter: 9

Girlfriend attractiveness:

Jerry's girl was an 8.

Love it? Okay? Meh? Or Hash?:

love it.

Last Words: the dog had problems.

Kiissing the Horse

There are three plots running through this one. It starts with George showing up at Jerry's with prescription swim goggles. His glass were stolen at the gym. Kramer, who has gotten Jerry a discount air conditioner, sends George to an eyewear store. He tries on all kinds of glasses. While there, a guy comes in with a dog and the dog bites Elaine. That is plot two. But the third has to do with George thinking he saw Jerry's girlfriend making out on the street with another guy. Of course, he is nearly blind, but Jerry has no trouble believing him because he squinted and has the ability to see Raccoons on the road when he squints. Also, a great conclusion.

Really one of the worst episodes in the season

Not much else to say! Doesn't feel like it was written by Seinfeld writers. Feels like a hack job.
