Farewell JFK, hello Bayside!
callanvass5 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
It's the first day of school at Bayside for everyone. Zack has a major crush on a girl named Kelly Kapowski, even has a poster of her playing volleyball in his room. He is adamant about getting her to be his girlfriend this year. Zack is a charming con artist who runs the school, until A.C Slater transfers to Bayside. Things get worse when Slater has the the hots for Kelly. Zack manipulates and schemes to try and spend time with Kelly, but Slater seems immune to Zack's ways. When Kelly gets detention, Zack comes up with a brilliant plan to get detention as well, so he can spend time with Kelly. This is my favorite show of all time. I remember looking forward to each new episode when this show was airing a new one every week. Everybody that was a fan of this show could memorize the theme song by heart. I recently checked out Good Morning Miss Bliss (A precursor to this show) and thought I should revisit one of my favorite shows growing up. It's just as amazing as it was back then. It's cheesy as hell but incredibly entertaining. This is technically the pilot episode, hence why Zack says "I'll never forget the day Slater showed up" at the beginning of the episode. Zack and Slater's rivalry would commence for most of the first season, until the eventually became great friends. Slater calling Zack preppy would become legendary, as would Zack breaking the fourth wall by talking directly to the camera. The most memorable thing about this show is Zack & Kelly's on and off, poignant love story. I agreed heavily with all of the casting choices. I've always found Mario Lopez to be somewhat corny, but he fits A.C like a glove. The teachers are a different story. They replaced Miss Bliss for a teacher doing a lame deaf act? It's about the only thing I dislike about this show. Favorite moments in this episode are Zack fiddling with Mr. Belding's possessions in his office, while Belding is trying to play counselor to Zack. The ending is hilarious as well. They were only scratching the surface with this episode. This is an extremely entertaining episode, but if it's your first time watching this show, you haven't seen anything yet!

Let's Meet AC Salter. Wait what?
JSirro5 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So it's episode 16 and Zack is starting the first day of school and being introduced to AC Slater? What is going on? Well as you might figure this was the original pilot. Why NBC decided to air them out of order is beyond me, even if it wasn't polished, it wasn't a bad beginning.

The story lines are set with Zack wanting to date Kelly at all costs and now AC wants to get in the way of that. As this is not the first episode I have watched, this would have been a great first episode, but quite a boring 16th episode.

We also getting a mention of the cafeteria, when Jessie says "The Max is a lot better than the cafeteria food". It's funny cause we never will see them in the cafe at all.

Overall a good episode, and one of my favorites even though the storyline isn't anything crazy it is a lot more believable than the subliminal messages or all the automated lockers. Giving this episode a 7.3.
