The KKTY office included a Run-D.M.C. poster. Run-D.M.C. was an American hip hop group from Queens, New York, founded in 1981.
Bayside's radio station was KKTY. The "Home of Tiger Radio" broadcast on FM frequency 98.6 MHz. It first appeared in episode Save the Max (1990).
When Kristy Barnes (Krystee Clark) defeats Rodriguez to make the Bayside wrestling squad, Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) commented, "Do you believe in miracles? Well, Kristy wins in a stunning upset!" allusions to Al Michaels' famous remark at the end of the United States' stunning upset over the Soviet Union in the Olympic Games on February 22, 1980.
When asked where she discovered a hold, Kristy Barnes (Krystee Clark) claims that A.C.Slater taught her how to use it to defeat Niedick in the previous year's city championship--referring to episode Pinned to the Mat (1989) in which Slater pinned Valley's Marvin Niedick (Gino De Mauro).
Before the Briggs-Slater wrestling match, Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) commented that both competitors were undefeated. Given that tryouts were only a week earlier, this is not surprising.
