The outfits worn by the card sharps Skeeter, Rooster and Hucklebuck are modeled on those pictured in Caravaggio's 1594 painting "The Card Sharps."
Fred spots Skeeter's cheating method as a "Three-finger drag with a thumb on top." He is referring to what is more commonly known as the "Base Deal" in which the dealer pulls selected cards from the bottom of the deck. It is possible that he was able to manipulate the deck while Lamont was away dealing with Fred.
Based on the story that Fred tells about Elizabeth's death, she died in 1947.
This story was adapted from the Steptoe and Son episode titled "Full House."
