That Little Hard-Boiled Egg!
Two outlaws, bossed by Clay Morton, the Colfax Mining Company surveyor, rob the express office of the Colfax payroll. They stash the cash right next to The Roy Rogers Boys Camp. Roy, Dale, and Pat are hosting some underprivileged city boys and teaching them the ways of the west. The oldest boy, Mickey, is a real smart mouthed punk. He is so prickly and unfriendly that Pat refers to him as "that little hard-boiled egg!" Mickey steals one of Roy's guns and learns that the three bad guys stole the payroll and asks to join the gang. But Morton decides to use Mickey to frame Roy for the murder of one the gang members, whom he shoots with Roy's stolen gun. Will Mickey come through and see the light, or will he continue on as nothing but but a city punk? With Roy in jail, Dale investigates and finds Mickey at the outlaws' hideout, but she gets captured and tied up by the outlaws. It sure looks bad for the good guys in this one. A fine episode with a few young boys in the case, including Roy (Dusty) Rogers Jr making his second appearance on the show.
