- TriviaManuel, when asked how it is going by Gunn, replies Six, two and even. This comes from horse racing and a horse that was "six two and even" carried odds of 6-to-1 to Win, 2-to-1 to Place, and even money to Show. Six, two, and even. Many tracks will start the odds on horses close to these odds and can be interpreted that the horses close to those odds are not out of the ordinary. Eventually the phrase meant that all was well and A-OK and everything is close to normal.

Kidnap
Lieutenant Jacoby has been kidnapped and Peter Gunn is in a race against time to try and save him.
The kidnapper is Burt Fisher whose brother is due to be executed at 1100 pm.
Jacoby needs to be found before then. Peter Gunn needs to use his contacts.
One of them is a trumpet player who was scarred for smiling at the wrong dame. He then gets blasted even though he kept his mouth shut.
An atmospheric economical story. Slightly seedy. Unusually for the time there is a black police sergeant giving orders.
The big let down was Jacoby being so casual over his impending demise.
