- [Griffin in working in the bike shop and Justin comes by]
- Justin Thompson: Griffin.
- Griffin Holbrook: Thanks for coming down.
- Justin Thompson: Yeah. Curiosity. I heard you and Julie were having trouble, but I figured I'd be the last person you'd wanna see.
- Griffin Holbrook: No, not the last. There's this, new guy she met at school.
- Justin Thompson: That's tough, man. I'm sorry.
- Griffin Holbrook: Well, he's hitting her.
- Justin Thompson: Yeah, well, of course he's hitting on her. I mean, you gotta get used to that.
- Griffin Holbrook: No, Julia's new boyfriend is hitting her.
- Justin Thompson: Well, then, what the hell are you doing here fixing fan belts?
- Griffin Holbrook: She won't let me anywhere near her. She... She filed for divorce.
- Justin Thompson: Oh, Okay. I get it. That's what this is all about.
- Griffin Holbrook: No, no, I'm not jealous here. I mean, I am, but... Look, somebody that she'll listen to has got to get her to admit what's going on here.
- Justin Thompson: Okay, so let me get this straight. You want me to go down there and drag her away from a guy that she wants to be with? Because you say, he's hitting her.
- Griffin Holbrook: [sarcastically] You're right. I wouldn't wanna mess up your squash game at the club.
- Justin Thompson: Oh, the hell with you, Griffin.
- Griffin Holbrook: Justin, listen to me, damn it! I know what you think of me. I don't like you, either. How you wanted her to leave me, and she did. So you gotta know you'd be the last person I came to if there was any other way. She's... She's always been able to talk to you better than me.
- Justin Thompson: All right, look... I'll check it out. For Julia.
- [Kirsten is on bed in the attic while Charlie checks on anything she needs]
- Charlie Salinger: I put a glass of water on the nightstand, and I just put a new bulb in the fixture in front of the door. I can't remember the last time that's been changed. I don't want it burning out in the middle of the night. You'll fall coming down those stairs.
- [he sits on the bed]
- Charlie Salinger: What?
- Kirsten Bennett: This is kind of funny, isn't it? You taking care of me.
- Charlie Salinger: Yeah, well... I guess it's been a lot of the other way around.
- Kirsten Bennett: Actually, I think we kind of trade off. I mean, remember... Do you remember the first time that we... That we ever really talked? Our very first real conversation? You helped me find my keys. Remember?
- Charlie Salinger: You lost your keys in the backyard. You were so frustrated and cute.
- Kirsten Bennett: [laughs] Oh! I'd only worked here a week. I didn't want you to think I was a total dimwit.
- Charlie Salinger: Believe me, that wasn't what I was thinking.
- Kirsten Bennett: Who would have thought?
- Charlie Salinger: Yeah. Who would have thought?
- [Diana starts crying]
- Kirsten Bennett: Go ahead. You better get her.
- Charlie Salinger: Right.
- [he goes to the stairs]
- Kirsten Bennett: Charlie?
- Charlie Salinger: Yeah?
- Kirsten Bennett: Good night.
- Charlie Salinger: Good night.
- [he leaves the attic]
