Forgive and/or Forget (#5.6)

Warning: Spoilers
Daphne is afraid to deal with the baby, but gets to learn it. Bailey moves from Sarah because she doesn't want to have sex now. Julia has to deal with Maggie.

Daphne not knowing how to deal with the baby was pretty well done. She actually shouldn't have too much trouble. She is a people's person. But I guess all the pregnancy stress and postpartum made her insecure about her abilities with the baby. But it was really well done how Kirsten hears her talk and quietly goes away to make sure she gets to deal with it on her own.

Both Bailey and Sarah are being weird about their situation. Bailey is really not the type of person who would react like this over no sex for some time until she gets over it.

Maggie is right. Julia sure doesn't have the same thing with Ned as a person who he was with for such a long time. This makes him so much more disgusting that he was willing to give it away.

Warning: Spoilers
Another disappointing episode of season 5. And to make it clear, Daphne as a character is not bad, is good and I feel sorry for her, it's just the rest what makes the episode and the context not good. In the first part, when they were at the hospital, I couldn't believe that the nurses called Daphne mrs Salinger or saying to Charlie "your wife...", that was pretty annoying. How hard was to check if they had a ring in their hands?? Or see that she checked in the hospital under the name Daphne Jablonsky?? That was a big mistake in the script, is an insult to the series, to the first four seasons (if someone deserved to be called Mrs Salinger, that's Kirsten). Also, Daphne's attitude in all the last episodes showed doubts and insecurity, so all the job from the nurse was annoying and bad, pushing her to hold a baby when it's very clear that she is not ready and that she is not even nearly a wife. Daphne needs time to be a mother. Then, Charlie tried to understand her but he pushed a little too. Besides, he forgot totally of Owen since they returned home and that won't be good. As for Claudia and Kirsten, they behaved perfectly (still my favourite characters of the series): Claudia realized first than anyone that she is needed in the house, to watch and take care of Owen, help with the baby, etc. And Kirsten too, being present for Owen, and then helping with Diana when they need her, and at the end leaving quietly to Daphne handle the situation with Diana's crying. Claudia finally was forced by Bailey to leave, but she gave Charlie a warning about Owen (that he dismissed), and gave to Griffin the instructions, to keep her in touch and to watch Owen.

On the other hand, Julia suffers Maggie's rage in the room and in class, so she wants to quit classes. It seems that she forgot that Libby hated her for "stealing Justin" and that two years later she commited suicide. Besides, what Julia and Griffin did to Justin, horrible too. So Julia's story and then continuing her relationship with Ned was pretty annoying. I bet that Neve was uncomfortable playing a character without moral codes in love. As for Bailey-Sarah, once more, like almost always, Sarah is the good one. She feels unsafe now that Bailey says that he wouldn't want a baby if she got pregnant, so she forbids sex, with this perfect reason. But seems that Bailey forgot that he "takes care of people", so his selfishness makes him move to the house temporarily, taking a time away from Sarah. Sarah didn't want this and she can't believe how immature Bailey is about this theme, considering he is mature about other stuff, like managing the restaurant. So overall, the episode was bad in comparisons to the rest, Claudia, Kirsten, Sarah, Griffin and Daphne are doing the right job, but the three older Salinger siblings Julia, Charlie and Bailey are not. The past seasons are missed a lot, here there's no family. Bailey is apart with Sarah, and fighting. Julia is on her own at Stanford. Charlie pushes Claudia and Owen away, and can't even stay close to Kirsten, his true wife. Last season was different, was brilliant, everyone was pulling together for the sake of the family, even Kirsten acted many times like if she never was taken away.
