This is the only appearance of Debra Mooney as Maggie's mom Jane. Previously she had been portrayed by Bibi Besch in Burning Down the House (1992) and Grosse Pointe, 48230 (1993).
Ruth-Anne describes stock rotation as every six months moving the front cans to the back and the back cans to the front. That is a parody of conventional stock rotation where new stock is put in the back and the older cans moved to the front.
At the poker game, Maurice refers to talkers as "Chatty Cathys". From 1959 to 1965 Mattel manufactured a pull-the-string-and-she-talks doll named Chatty Cathy. It was almost as popular as Barbie.
The bit in the first scene about the length of Maggie's hair actually calls back to conversations in previous episodes when her mother complained that her hair was too short.
