- Obsession reaches new heights when Chris is dismayed that his ex-lover can't find any difference between him and Bernard in bed. Joel worries about losing his New York "edge". And Marilyn snoops through the medical files to find her perfect man.—From DVD insert
- Chris's brother Bernard is back with his girlfriend in tow. As Bernard makes the introductions, his partner looks at Chris with an expression of disbelief. She and Chris lived together for six months when he was 22 years old. He claims that there was too much peyote for those memories to remain. The three of them hang out together prompting many instances where the brothers speak the same words simultaneously. A light-hearted challenge is acted upon - can Ann tell which of the two is kissing her with her eyes closed. She can't. Suddenly, there is a bit of tension between Chris and Bernard. One of them must be superfluous. Finally, a random comment from Ed helps Chris realize that thought they are similar, only Bernard looks at Ann with love in his eyes. Chris is over her. Problem solved. Meanwhile, Joel is worried that he is losing his New York City street-smarts - he forgets his wallet in The Brick, he sits on a bench eating sunflower seeds talking about winter clothing strategies. He runs to Ruth-Anne's store and borrows all the videotapes set in New York. This leads to further frustration when his recently cleaned VCR does not work properly. He takes it back to Marvin's Fix It to complain. Marvin says it has a bad capstan motor. He'll fix it for the cost of parts. Joel wants parts and labor free, or he'll sue. The heated repartee between the two stokes his New York City fiery spirit to the point that he is no longer worried. Marilyn is dating men around Cicely. Ted takes her on a dump date (to watch bears) which she enjoys. The next day, however, she breaks it off. She does the same thing with the second guy. When Joel asks what's going on, she tells him the dates have medical issues. Further questioning leads to her admission that she is reading the dates' medical files. That is where she learns of the possible health problems. Joel is incensed that she has violated the doctor-patient privacy oath and severely chides her for doing so. She seems nonplussed.—Garon Smith
- Joel begins having episodes of memory lapse, doing things no New Yorker would ever do, such as turning his back on his money by leaving his wallet on a pool table, and then later forgetting his parka.
Meanwhile, Bernard shows up -- new girlfriend in tow -- and promptly discovers that not only did his new love know his brother, but that she KNEW his brother, in the biblical sense, as well. She and Chris lived together for about 6 months ago, and then one day he just upped and offed. This turns out to bother Bernard very much.
Joel begins trying to get his "New York" back by becoming the jerk he was when first arriving in Cicely, renting New York-type movies (Dog Day Afternoon, Taxi Driver, The Godfather, for instance), and succeeds only in the jerk part.
Chris tries to prove that he and Bernard are totally different people, and ends up almost alienating his brother completely.
