Katie feels that Steve (Fred MacMurray) needs a woman in his life, so she arranges a blind date, Millicent Sawyer (Elaine Devry), for him. Meanwhile, Ernie (Barry Livingston) has a problem in school so his dad has to meet with his teacher, Barbara Harper (Beverly Garland). Rob and Katie are worried how to break it to Steve that his blind date, Millicent, isn't interested in him, but Steve has already become smitten with Ernie's teacher, Barbara.—S Sather
- After Rob graduates from college, he, Katie and the triplets move to their own apartment, which is only a few blocks away. Katie feels that now that with the house less crowded that Steve will start feeling lonely. Eventually, she tries to set Steve up with a friend of her mother's, but there is no chemistry. However, a few days later Steve meets with Barbara Harper; a substitute teacher of Ernie's, who happens to be a widow as well. The two hit it off so well that not only do they barely talk about Ernie's poor behavior, but they spend several hours together.
