The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was one of the most decorated units in the history of the United States Army. They served with distinction all through the Italian Campaign. The 442nd was mostly Nisei, second generation individuals of Japanese descent who were born in America.
Lloyd Kino, who was featured as the Nisei Sergeant in this episode (with the stripes of a U.S. Army Platoon Sergeant), also guest starred in various in various Japanese roles in several South Pacific themed episodes in previous seasons. He also appeared in various Japanese officer roles in Black Sheep Squadron.
