THE MAN FROM UNCLE – The Matterhorn Affair - 1967
This is the 83nd episode of 1964 to 1968 spy series, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. The series ran for a total of 105 episodes. The first season was filmed in black and white with the remainder shot in colour. Robert Vaughn plays agent Napoleon Solo while David McCallum plays Illya Kuryakin. Leo G Carroll plays Mister Waverly, the boss of the secret agency known as U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law & Enforcement) UNCLE's main enemy is THRUSH, an organization out to take over the planet.
This one has UNCLE agents David McCallum and Robert Vaughn sent to Singapore to purchase a bit of film. The film is of a Government project to build a huge atomic reactor. During the exchange the UNCLE agents are set upon by some burly gentlemen with large fists. During the mêlée the film is lifted and disappears into the dark.
McCallum and Vaughn return to headquarters in New York empty handed. That is for one clue about a man named, Marvin Klump. The Klump fellow is soon hunted down and the UNCLE agents are sent to California to talk with him. Meanwhile, the bad guys, Vito Scotti and Oscar Berghi find that they have only half the film. The rest they assume is with this Klump fellow.
Klump, (Bill Dana) is a less than successful used car salesman. He has no idea why anyone thinks he has the other half of the film. Needless to say the rest of the episode becomes the usual chase, capture, escape and such.
This one is really quite bad and comes off as a poorly written episode of BATMAN.
