When Higgins is watching the snooker tournament he is capturing it using a still camera with a motorized drive. It is not a 35mm movie camera. Later, he develops what is clearly a roll of 35mm movie film that was supposedly shot with this camera. Not only was the camera wrong, but by 1986 video cameras were readily available and with Robin Masters' wealth, Higgins would have had a video camera rather than a film camera. Later Higgins refers to the film as being of still photos. One doesn't capture a winning snooker shot using still photography.
The frame of snooker that is being shown goes from the opening break to completed in under 2 minutes. The world record for a clearance is 5 minutes 8 seconds, held by Ronnie O'Sullivan, and would have been far longer at the time. A frame may be conceded sooner, but the number of balls remaining indicates that at least 30 have been potted.
When Selleck puts his hand over Yates' mouth, he smears her lipstick all over her upper lip and chin. As this was a mall scene filled with extras, they didn't redo her makeup and reshoot, but kept it in for the rest of the mall shoot. When they drove off she fixed her face (and far too perfectly).
