Higgins is appointed chairman of the Aloha Historical Society for the preservation of structures of significant architectural value. He states that the Robin Masters estate is under consideration as such a structure and says that tours were being arranged so that it could be judged for inclusion on this list.
Long after the end of Magnum, P.I., the site used for the exteriors of the Masters estate continued to be a tourist draw, even though tourists were not allowed on the grounds. In 2014, due to a lack of maintenance, the property had greatly degraded and the owner decided not to repair it but to tear it down. As there was no Aloha Historical Society to preserve it, this very significant structure is now long gone.

Bob Minor, who plays Rose in this episode, also served as Stunt Coordinator throughout the show's eight seasons.
This episode was directed by Stuart Margolin. He is best known for playing the role of Angel on The Rockford Files (1974). Tom Selleck, playing another character, once guest starred on an episode of Rockford. When Magnum was in pre-production, it was hoped that they could do a tie-in with The Rockford Files, but as the latter went out of production that year the tie-in never took place. A similar wish was a tie in with Hawaii Five-O (1968), which also ended in 1980. Despite this, Five-O is mentioned frequently and Five-O character Detective McGarrett is also mentioned on one occasion.
Magnum's friend and volleyball partner Marcus is portrayed by beach volleyball legend Sinjin Smith (credited as St. John Smith). Their opponents in the opening volleyball scene (both uncredited) are portrayed by Sinjin's younger brother Andrew Smith and Jon Anderson, who are both also champion beach volleyball players.
Annie Potts' first appearance in the series as Tracy Spencer. She would later appear as this same character in Season 7, "A.A.P.I." (1986).
