Nell Newtrich claims that Superman now has as few powers "as Batman". This is one of the rare occasions where 'Lois & Clark' connects with the wider DC universe (unlike the later Smallville (2001), which has gradually introduced other established superheroes).
Ultrawoman (Lois) receives a bouquet and a wreath from Antonio Banderas. Clark says: "I never liked that guy" followed by Lois saying: "Me neither." Teri Hatcher would go on to work with Antonio Banderas in Spy Kids (2001) with Banderas as the hero and Hatcher as one of the villains.
Lois uses her x-ray vision to see if Clark wears boxers or briefs. This may be a reference to Superman (1978) when Lois asks Superman to use his x-ray vision to see what color her underwear is.
Jimmy receives a phone call about a jumper at the corner of "Giordano and Adams.," a reference to famed comic books artists Dick Giordano and Neal Adams.
The bio Lois and Clark find for Lucille Newtrich says she has a bachelor of arts degree in social etiquette from the University of Metropolis.
